Performance Task in EAPP
First Quarter
G-oal To write an 800-1000 word critique of an event or object relevant to your area
of specialization. The critique should provide not only essential features of the
aforementioned topics but a balanced evaluation as well
R-ole An expert that has an experience in attending the event or using a gadget
A-udience People interested in the event or object and have general knowledge of the
topic
S-ituation Similar to journalistic writing pieces in magazines, the critique should be
framed for the purpose of providing information for those interested in the
event or gadget
P-roduct The critique needs to be developed for the purpose of informing the audience
as regards the salient features of the event or gadget. It should present a
balanced evaluation of the topic and specifically highlight the positive features
as well as those that require improvement. Lastly, the critiques hould also note
possible caveats or required knowledge to fullu appreciate the event or gadget

Concept Paper
G-oal To write a paper for oral presentation. The paper should delve on a concept’s
history, development, and impact in the students selected field of
specialization. Employing different rhetorical patterns, the concept paper
should provide a balanced definition of the term/ concept being discussed
R-ole An expert who is knowledgeable about the selected concept in the discipline
A-udience Fellow experts and readers interested in the concept
S-ituation Similar to writing an abstract/ precis, the concept paper should be fit for the
conventions of a national/ international presentation
P-roduct The concept paper to be developed needs to provide a balanced take on the
history, development, and impact of a concept in the student’s field of
specialization. It should be presented orally in a forum in order to disseminate
the salient features of the concept to a wider audience
S-tandards for Success The concept paper should contain:
- history, development, and impact of the concept in student’s field of
specialization
- employment of rhetorical patterns in actualizing the different aspects of the
concept
The oral presentation should:
- present the salient features of the concept
- use different visual aids in enriching the presentation
- address queries posed by the audience
Position Paper
G-oal To write a position paper for oral presentation. The paper should delve on an
issue of importance in the student’s area of specialization or in the community.
Employing different rhetorical patterns, the position paper should provide a
rich description of the context of the issue, relevant claims, and credible
evidence. Further, the position paper should provide congruent solutions to
address the issue,
R-ole An member of community interested in addressing an important issue in the
community of the student’s field of specialization
A-udience Community meners who will be affected by the issue addressed in the position
paper.
S-ituation The issue is a relevant problem in the student’s community that needs to be
addressed by critically examining the different claims/ sides of the issue as
well as the evidence needed to strengthen a particular side of the issue
P-roduct The position paper to be developed needs to provide a balanced take on the
claims and ecidence concerning an issue relevant in the student’s comminity or
foeld of specialization. In addition, the paper should be orally presented in a
forum in order to disseminate the salient features of the issue to a wider
audience.
S-tandards for Success The position paper should contain:
- the context of the issue, the author’s stand as well as claims
- the counterclaims of the opponent and claims in the evidence
- measures to address the issues
The oral presentation should:
- present the salient features of the issue
- use different visual aids in enriching the presentation
- address queries posed by the audience
