RATIONALE:

Rose, a flowering plant of the genus Rosa, in the family of the Rosaceae or "the flower it bears",
is a type of plant which commonly attracts bees, butterflies, etc. because of its nectar. It may be
sweet for these kind of insects but based on the research of professional scientists, roses love to be
planted on acidic kind of soil, ranging 6.0 through 6.9 on the pH measurement. This means that
there is a possibility of roses having much longer expiration date if it is used in making a Rose
Insect Repellent, considering that roses are acid loving plants.

One of the world’s biggest problem in today’s time are the sickness that insects bring to 97%
of the people around the world. Even in a person’s home, he/she is not safe from insect bites
anymore. Most insects are dangerous and can bring harm to other people. One of the most effective
solution in this problem is by using an insecticide for their home to kill or to get the harmful insects,
who is invading them and their houses, away from them. Of course, like all other insect repellent,
it should be fragrant.

According to www.bhg.com, the most fragrant kind of rose is the Honey Perfume. By the sound
of its name, it sure can be quite convincing that it really is the most fragrant rose of its kind. If
possible, Honey Perfume could be used as an insect repellent against bugs.

Based on the observations of the researcher, like what is said earlier, insects are one of the main
causes of the illness that most people have right now. Thinking that there should be an easier way
to help this problem decreased, the researcher came up with an idea of using rose as an effective
insect repellent to be used by people all around the world. It helps the economy to grow bigger or
increase.

Who would even want to get bitten by harmful insects? The researcher would love to help the
world’s problem decrease, even in just a small percentage. Roses are, in fact, effective enough to
be used for this study. That is why the researcher chose this as her investigatory project.

All of the people can apply this in their daily life by spraying it in their clothes, body or even
in some corners of their rooms to assure that they will be safe, even inside their own homes.

of rose the researcher would think is the most effective in this study. Since the dependent variable

only depends on the independent variable, the researcher pointed the arrow away from the
independent variable as it affects the dependent variable.

As for the controlled or constant variable, the type of plant will always stay constant because
the type of plant that the researcher would use are roses. And that affects the independent and
dependent variable in what way? The controlled variable affects the independent variable by
knowing the type of plant that will be used to measure the amount that is need in making an insect
repellent. The dependent variable is affected because the type of plant that stayed constant in the
study is the type of plant the will be used in making an insecticide against harmful bugs.
