Introduction

Immunization prevents diseases, disabilities and deaths from diseases preventable

by vaccination, such as cervical cancer, diphtheria, hepatitis B, measles, paroditis,
whooping cough, pneumonia, polio, diarrheal rotavirus diseases, rubella and
tetanus. It is indisputable that there is no preventive health intervention more cost-
effective than immunization, which prevents between 2 and 3 million deaths per year
due to diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough and measles. However, if the world
vaccine coverage were improved, another 1.5 million could be avoided.
Immunizations Dialog

Lili and her mother were walking home after going to the market, until suddenly Lili's
mother sees a poster.

Mom: Lili, look at that poster (pointing to the poster), there will be a vaccination
campaign against the flu and just is today.
Daughter: oh mom! But that's not important, besides, who would like to go?
Mom: How is not that important? (annoyed), and do you know who is going?
Daughter: no, I do not care (with disinterest and annoyance)
Mom: well we (smiling sarcastically)
Daughter: but, but ... MOM! THAT'S NOT FAIR! IT'S GOING TO HURT ME! I DO
NOT LIKE! (scared)
Mom: enough of tantrums, it's also going to be for own good
Daughter: but, but…I do not WANT! (wanting to cry and trying to escape)

What they had not read was the place where the campaign was going to take place,
are was the same place and right there was the nurse, who saw this and approached
the scene.

Nurse: good morning. What's going on here?

Mom and daughter: good morning (stop arguing)
Mom: Miss nurse, what happens is that my daughter does not want to understand
that, although the injections hurt a bit, they will protect her from diseases
Daughter: but I do not get sick easily, that's for the weak and I'm not (annoying)
Nurse: well I'm sorry to tell you that it's not like that… Influenza is a serious illness
that can lead to hospitalization and, sometimes, even cause death, influenza virus
infection can affect people in different ways now influenza vaccines make the
antibodies develop in the body approximately two weeks after vaccination. These
antibodies provide protection against infection with the virus included in the vaccine.
Daughter: so, this means that they would protect me from great harm, you were
right mom, you just wanted to protect me and I behaved very bad (with my head
down) now I understand that vaccines protect us and even if they hurt a bit, it will be
for our own good (smiling)
Mom: the own good thing is that you understood and that you never forget that
vaccines are important and as you say it will hurt a bit but it can avoid more suffering.
Nurse: I'm very happy that you understood, well ... what are we waiting, we go to
the campaign (smiling)
They go to the campaign to get vaccinated.
