1.2 Warnings
Respect these warnings and follow the indications labeled on the system.
Power the system through the electrical power supply indicated on the
related label.
Connect the system to plugs-in provided with a grounding device. Avoid
using plugs-in placed on the same circuit in connection with machines
starting up and stopping periodically. Take care of the power supply cable,
in order to avoid damaging or wearing out.
The system has never to be installed near heat or cooling sources.
When the cover is open the system automatically stops all the motors;
this kind of safety is useful when cleanings and changing of consumables
have to be performed.
Only perform the adjustments reported in this manual: a wrong
adjustment may cause serious damages.
Before starting the installation, choose a wide and functional area with the
following requirements:
- A level and rigid surface. Yielding surfaces, like pre-manufactured
platforms or floors covered with a fitted carpet, don’t guarantee the
right alignment of the modules making up the S3000E system.
- A good accessibility. Leave free spaces all around the machinery, in
order to allow access to inspection and maintenance areas, and a
right ventilation of the system. Also leave at least one meter in front
of the machine, so that the operator using the front panel has got a
proper working area.
- Favorable environment conditions. Install the S3000E system in a
cool and dry place; avoid too cold or too warm temperatures; keep
the machinery far from humidity, dust and smoke. Don’t directly
expose to heat or sunlight. No electromagnetic interferences.
- Proper electrical power supply. Connect the system and its devices
with cables fit to your electrical power supply net. When using
extensions or multiple plugs-in, be sure that the total absorption
doesn’t exceed the maximum allowed value.
It is advisable to keep the box and the protective materials for possible
reuse.
1.5 Installation
Connect the power cord and the interface USB cable on the back panel of
the system; if present, connect also the Chip contacts cable and the RFID
contactless cable. The service key on the machine back panel enable or
disable the cover open safety. If the key can be removed, the cover open
safety is enable so the machine stops if a cover is opened. Otherwise if
the key can’t be removed, the cover open safety is disabled and the
machine doesn’t stop even if a cover is opened.

Service key
On the same side it’s placed the machine label containing the
specifications of the system; verify that the voltage marked on the label
corresponds with your country voltage supply.
The covers key are placed on the machine side, one key for the operator
area (Loader/Unloder modules) and the other key for the service area
(Encoder/Embosser/Tipper modules).

2.2 Console
The S3000E console is made by:
2.3 Power on
Power on the machine by switching the main switch in the I position.
The display will show the firmware version and then the power on status.
Press CLEAR on the console and the machine will become ready and the
display will show the Tipper temperature.
Insert the card into the manual feed slot with the magnetic stripe on the
bottom left side of the card, then you had to run the desired job with the
Maticard Pro software.
Separate the cards before inserting them into the Input Hopper to remove
any possible electrostatic energy which could stuck the cards together.
Insert the card into the automatic Input Hopper with the magnetic stripe
on the bottom left side of the card, then you had to run the desired job
with the Maticard Pro software.
The card is taken by the clamp and first moved towards the Encoder, if
present; This module encodes (write & read) the magnetic stripe on the
card, with a capacity of reading/writing 3 tracks at high or low coercivity.
Now the clamp moves under the chip contacts, if present, in order to
personalize a smart card; then the clamp moves over the RFID station, if
present, in order to personalize a contactless smart card.
Now the clamp moves in the Embosser module. This module emboss the
characters present into its drum in the desired position on the card and
can be equipped with an indent module, front or rear, to perform the
indenting personalization.
Then the card passes into the Tipper module, which colors the embossed
characters; the color depends on the kind of ribbon mounted.
At the end of the cycle, the card is stored in the Output module; if the
card is well personalized will be in the lower Output Hopper, while if the
card is rejected or defective will be in the upper Reject Box.
To take the personalized card pull out the related tray.
Chapter 3 – Consumables

C
Remove upward the Rear Indent from the Embosser, starting from the
Infiller right side.
Unscrew counter clockwise the two ribbon covers and remove them.
Used ribbon
Put the new ribbon on the left spindle, being sure that the ribbon will
unwind clockwise, and the empty core on the right spindle.
Empty core
New ribbon
Pass the ribbon over its two rolls and under the empty core.
Be sure that the ink side will be upward.
Ink side
Stick the ribbon to the empty core and turn it counter clockwise a couple
of times to tension the ribbon.
Insert the ribbon covers into the related holes on the two spindles.
Insert the Rear Indent in the Embosser starting from the Infiller right side.
Insert the Infiller vertical guides into the related slots on the Embosser.
Insert the Infiller horizontal guides into the related slots on the Embosser.
Push the Rear Indent knob.
WARNING
Power off the machine, remove the plug and open the cover.
Pull the black knob and remove the ribbon spool.
Insert the ribbon spool into its two fixing disks and leave the black knob.
Push the Tipper button to unwind the ribbon trough its path.
When the new ribbon is completely wrapped around the winding spool,
release the Tipper button.
Close the cover, plug and power on the machine; in a minute the Tipper
will be ready to work.
E351 TIPPER COMM Communication error. Please turn OFF /turn ON the machine.
The card remained under the tipping zone with the platen
pushing on the card.
E352 TIPPER HOME
Check for any mechanical impediments along the tipping
movement.
The tipper ribbon foil doesn’t advance correctly.
Check if tipper ribbon foil is finished:
a) Replace ribbon.
If the card is attached to the ribbon with embossed chars
flattened:
a) Check plate movement sensor;
b) Plate movement sensor is dirty: clean it with compressed
air or lint free cloth;
c) Plate movement sensor isn’t connected correctly on the
board;
d) Check motor tipping encoder sensor;
e) Motor tipping encoder sensor is dirty: clean it with
E353TIPP RIBBON
compressed air or lint free cloth;
f) Motor tipping encoder sensor isn’t connected correctly on
the board.
If the card is tipped correctly, but doesn’t leave module check:
a) Take up ribbon motor’s connections.
If the ribbon moves correctly, but the card is not tipped:
a) Check ribbon advance encoder sensor;
b) The ribbon advance encoder sensor is dirty: clean it with
compressed air or lint free cloth;
c) Ribbon advance encoder sensor isn’t connected correctly on
the board;
d) The tipping ribbon foil may slip on one of the shaft.
See E535; the error happened while the Embosser was
E354TIPP RIBBON
punching, so the card will be rejected.
Too much pressure on the Tipper pad. Check if:
a) Too much pad steps in the format;
E355TIPPER PRESS
b) Pad sensor damaged or disconnected:
c) Tipper encoder disk damaged.
E356 WAIT TEMPER Waiting for the correct temperature for the tipper.
Tipper temperature too low (0°). Check if:
E357TEMP TOO LOW a) Heating probe disconnected or damaged;
b) Temperature probe disconnected or damaged.
Tipper temperature too high (over 200°). Check if:
E358TEMP HIGH a) Heating probe disconnected or damaged;
b) Temperature probe disconnected or damaged.
Chapter 5 – Cleaning
To ensure that the system operates correctly, it is necessary to carry out
periodic cleaning of some of the components that otherwise could cause
problems in cards production.
To clean all the transport rubber rolls of the system, the Encoder module
head and the Chip contact [1], you must absolutely use isopropyl alcohol;
at this purpose, it can be used a cleaning card supplied by Matica.
To clean the two Loader rolls [2], use a clean cloth moisten with water.
