Q8. The statement is true because Socrates thinks he was wiser than him, because the man had no
wisdom and yet he was boasting or claiming that he was wise, but in reality he didn’t know a thing.
Q9. False
Q10. The statement is false because Young saw the human essence in societal structure and the
way they treat each gender rather than human existence which Sartre believed.
Q11. Plato considered the Math so special because according to his stance, those who want to learn
the idea for knowledge of good its necessary to study Math, because this knowledge is not sensible
rather it is intelligible knowledge which human mind can perceive or interpret. According to Plato
the knowledge of Math, gave someone the ability to apprehend things quickly, because as
mentioned earlier perception of Math is visible to us. The knowledge of Math is visible to human
in the shape of real objects, so the knowledge of Math is true knowledge according to Plato based
Q12. According to Socrates philosophy, the meaning of ‘essence’ depicts human knowledge that
is based upon ability to critical evaluate real things and to protract new ideas based upon arguments
between individuals , Socrates called it method of elenchus. The use of essence in Plato’s
philosophy can be termed as the idea of true things which exists in terms of real forms. Considering
Sartre philosophy, he wrote in his book, “Existence precedes Essence”, which means that existence
of human beings is superior to essence, because human develop their own identity and status and
essence of things is not important. Young use the word essence to define societal behavior towards
women and how such essence of society didn’t let them to reach their true potential.
Q13. According to Sartre, humans are radically free but he also states that we depends upon others
for freedom, it could mean the freedom of society as whole because one can feel sense of freedom
by becoming aware of himself and his consciousness, but the overall freedom of thinking and
perception can only be achieved when all the people thinks they are radically free. Because we are
greatly influenced by others in reshaping our ideas and perception. So, it could mean the freedom

Q14. According to Young, behaviors such as in which girls are taught to ‘throw it like a girl’ are
rooted in the situation because women are never given acceptance to do manly tasks by the sexist
and patriarchal society, which bound the women to do only those gender rules which are approved
by the society. The situation is oppressive because women are never given the space like men are
given by the society, and when girls grow up in such society they accept the fact that their body is
fragile and they can never achieve those things or do tasks which are supposed to be done by man.
Q15.
Each philosopher has different viewpoint regarding ‘caring for truth’ and they have defined truth
from different perspective. Each one has derive their philosophies to explain what truth actually
is. In Socrates and Plato’s philosophies the caring of truth is defined as the knowledge which can
be considered as true or false, depending upon the philosophies. According to Socrates truth is not
what you show or claim, rather than what your character embody and show through your character
throughout your life. Socrates provided his method of Elenchus to reach to the truth. The sophists
have different perception about the truth opposite to Plato and Socrates, they believed that truth is
which someone perceive is right according to his own belief. Because truth can appear different to
different people, and to gain truth we should accept only those things which seems true at that
specific situation. Plato’s philosophy defines truth as which our body and mind can perceive and
which is clear to us. According to him, truth is important because it can only leads man to real or
true knowledge. Plato laid stress upon the knowledge of math to attain truth. Aquinas defines truth
from the perspective of God’s existence, because as the existence of God is self evident, the truth
is also self evident, the truth is divine and it didn’t require any validation. Sartre defines truth
according to the concept of human freedom that all men are free, and human seeks freedom to
keep their actions true. In addition, everyone should care about truth because this is the only way
they can become conscious of their selves and gain the freedom. Young defines truth as the fact
one which women are made impossible to attain through societal structure. According to her
philosophy, truth is that women can do the tasks supposed to be done men, but the sexist society
never reveal this truth to women that she can achieve what she wants. She believes that if women
are given enough confidence then they can embrace this truth that they can do anything, which
