Day 1:

All TTO classes from the second year had to be in school at 08:15. The day started off with a
speech of Mr De Haas, about what we were going to do during O.M (Opening Minds). He
told that the subjects: Dutch, French, German, science and art, were going to be involved in
the project week. After the speech of Mr De Haas, we went to the classes and got a guest
speaker. My first guest speaker talked about photography and propaganda, we had to make
notes while he was talking because Mr De Haas told us some of the information would be in
the history test. After the guest speaker, we had a science lesson, which was about the
gases and chemicals that were used in WW1. After the science lesson, we had arts, which
was about applying the knowledge about propaganda, which we had learned from the guest
speaker.

Day 2:
The day started off with a French lesson, which was about letters that were sent by the by
soldiers during WW1. We got the assignment to make such a letter, to put it on the website
we had do finish the week after. After the French lessen, we had an English lesson, which
was about writing poems, and using different techniques and devices for writing them. We
had to read the book “Private Peaceful”, and after we had read it, we got the assignment to
make a poem about WW1, applying different devices. After English, we had 3 guest
speakers, which talked about their experiences with war, and how they want to make the
world a better place.

Day 3:
We started this day with a Dutch lesson, which was about analyzing books, and later, make
a dairy fragment to put on your website. After Dutch, we got an hour to work on our
assignments that had to be finished. After that hour, we had a drama lesson, which was
different than all the other lessons that week, because it was the only lesson which wasn’t
about WW1. Later we had P.E, which was about rugby.

Day 4:
Today we started with history. We had to do research about the soldiers from WW1 we got
assigned at the beginning of the week and had to write an article about that soldier. After
history, we had German, which was about propaganda used in WW1. We got the
assignment to make a poster about peace. Later, we got an hour to work on the
assignments. Then, we had religion studies, the lesson was mostly about Marvel movies,
and which character we would want to be, and why.

Day 5:
Today we had to be at school very early, because we were going to Belgium. We were
visiting some important monuments from WW1. Including graveyards of the many soldiers
that had died. We paid our respects and put our poems on the graves of the soldier.

This was the end of the O.M project. I think it was an interesting and remarkable project
week.
