Recreation Opportunity Guide

Visitor Information:
Hellgate Overlook sits high on the
cliffs above Hellgate Canyon and of-
fers spectacular views of the Rogue
Use Season: River, Hellgate Canyon, and Hellgate
Year Round Bridge. This site has been designated
a Watchable Wildlife area for viewing
osprey, great blue heron, waterfowl,
Fees: None and cliff swallows. The best viewing
season is from May through October.
Location:
Parking is available in a small lot adja-
T35S, R7W, Section 10 cent to the road. It is dangerous to
venture onto the cliffs beyond the

Driving Directions:

From Grants Pass, Oregon take I-5 north to the Merlin exit. Follow the Merlin-Galice
Road west about 9.2 miles. Watch for signs.
