Blood pressure

A normal teenager should have a blood pressure of 110/70 mmHg. If the teen
undergoes stress and anxiety, the blood pressure might shoot up to 140/90 mmHg.
This blood pressure can also decrease to 90/60 mmHg and the teen is now considered
to have low blood pressure. A sudden spike in your blood pressure indicates poor diet
(salts, fats, and sugars) is a common factor. Drugs, alcohol and cigarettes are also very
harmful and cause the blood pressure to spike. A sudden drop in your blood pressure
can be associated with someone who's rising from a lying down or sitting position to
standing and caused the brain to be deprived of adequate blood supply. This causes
the person to be dizzy and in some cases pass out. My readings indicate a consistent
normal blood pressure, this is because I do not become stressed over things that I
know I cannot control or do not matter. I also try every morning to have a breakfast.

Heart rate

The normal heart rate for a teenager is 60-90 beats/minute. If the heart rate is too
high, the heart pumps less efficiently and blood flow to the body and heart is reduced.
When the heart is beating quicker, the muscles of the heart, or myocardium, need
more oxygen. If this persists, oxygen-starved myocardial cells can die, leading to a
heart attack. Causes of a high heart rate can be: consuming too much alcohol or drugs,
heart disease (coronary artery disease), hypertension and smoking. On the other hand,
a low heart rate indicates that the heart's natural pacemaker isn't working right or that
the electrical pathways of the heart are disrupted. In severe cases, the heart beats so
slowly that it doesn't pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. This can cause
symptoms and can be life-threatening. Some causes of a low heart rate can be:
Changes in the heart that are the result of aging, diseases that damage the heart's
electrical system (coronary artery disease), conditions that can slow electrical
impulses through the heart and, some medicines for treating heart problems or high
blood pressure. My heart rate for the two weeks was normal and consistent, it did not
spike or drop.

Respiration rate

The normal respiration rate for teenagers is 12-20 breaths/minute. If you are
breathing too many times in a minute, it means you are hyperventilating and need
medical attention. If the respiration rate is too low, you have Bradypnea which is
caused by age or other diseases in the body. My respiration rate was in range in the
two weeks.
