Research Enviroment

The environment from which this research will be undertaken is in the Philippines; particularly

in the Island of Cebu where the potential sites for the research will be selected. Mainly in many

of University of San Carlos’s many facilities which includes: The Learning Research Center

(LRC) where the related journals and books will be read and borrowed for this thesis; the School

of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Design (SAFAD) provides the environment for which he can

further study on the related information of the selected topic and the researchers home,

additionally the environment of SAFAD provides the venue for which the researcher can

approach his chosen adviser/s and deliberate and approach his coordinators in relation to the

chosen topic. Further research will be done in the researcher’s home to further study the subject

of the thesis.

For the primary data of this research, the potential sites, the place where interviews and surveys

will be undergone will be the secondary venue for this research. The potential and selected sites

provides the architect an in depth knowledge of the advantages and constraints of the site, and

which site from the selection of sites will the location for this thesis be best. The venues from

which interviews and surveys will be gathered is also necessary for this researcg=h

Research Respondents

1. Stakeholders behind coworking developments:

The stakeholders behind these developments have a better idea on aspects pertaining

communal arrangements for individuals to perform their task productively. The said

stakeholders support what is closest to coliving developments in other countries. Interviews


and surveys with these individuals is a necessary step to better understand the contextual

sociology and psychology of locals

2. Startup entrepreneurs; Building Processing Outsourcing (BPO) employees; and other groups

of young professionals:

interviews and statistical data would be gathered from these individuals to better identify

their needs and wants in a communal environment. These sets of young professionals

include people from the BPO or Business Outsourcing Industry, startup businessmen, and

other groups of young professionals.

3. Adviser/s

These are the individual/s who will help the proponent to completer his study of his selected

Thesis topic.

Research Instruments

1. Books; journals; news articles; websites

These research medium will aid the researcher gather the necessary data which have been

studied and experimented by other professionals. Furthermore, this will help the

researcher see the viewpoints of other professions in relation to the field of architect.

Related theories, literature, and other source of written information will aid the researcher

build a stronger backbone for his proposal.

2. Interview questionnaires

These medium will aid the researcher understand the different viewpoints of its different

users. These vague sets of qualitative data may later be turn to quantitative data for the

researcher to determine the consensus of the interviewees needs and wants.


3. Documentaries; Ted Talks; Lectures

These sources of information are more actively sought for the proponent of this research

to better visualize the topic he seeks to study.

Treatment of Data

All data gathered will be recorded and held with care. The information collected

from the potential users and research will be presented out through a layout such as bullet

forms, statistical analysis and graphs for easy understanding. The information gathered is

for education and basis used only for this study.

 All data which were recorded were carefully read and cross examined from other sources

of information to better understand the validity of the information gathered from the

different sets of research instruments.
