Introduction
The purpose of this report is to conduct a reward package using the total reward approach for the
position of public relations manager at coffee land café. Furthermore, it will also contain the
compensation that this job role will hold in the organization.

Company over view


Coffee land café is a small medium enterprise located at Bahrain bay first established in January 1st
2017. Moreover, the café has three other branches surrounding the kingdom of Bahrain and it contains
35 employees which include baristas, cleaners, cashers and many more. In addition, Coffee land does
not only serve coffee but it also hand out different types of beverage and baked snacks though out the
branches. The mission of the café is to provide the best coffee experience for their customers. On the
other hand, coffee land café aims to distribute more of its goods and services to their customers by
spreading their branches throughout the GCC countries.

Job over view


Public relations manager is the most important element to build up and maintain the company’s
reputation. This role functions by the use of communication with the clients and through media to
provide a positive influence on the public towards an excellent image about the organization products
and services. Adding to that, a public relation manager has many responsibilities and duties such as
conducting research to be acquainted with how to influence the suitable audience. Moreover,
accomplish annual reports and articles. Additionally, maintain the communication with the public
through social media such as instagram and twitter (editors, 2016).

Total reward approach


Total reward approach includes financial and non financial benefits for employers to reward their
employees and motivate them towards a better performance so they can maintain their hard work and
trust to the organization. Adding to that, it helps organization differentiate themselves from their
competitors to attract more clients and candidates. Furthermore, the total reward approach consists of
five elements which are compensation, benefits, work experience, Recognition, Achievement and
Growth, and learning and development.

Compensation includes base salary and other factors such short term and long term incentive pay which
an employer provides for their employees to attract them toward their organization and motivates them
toward a better performance (Johnston, n.d).

Benefits are divided into two parts which are mandatory such as social insurance and non mandatory
such as dental care. As a result, it can assist in attracting the employees to stay longer in the
organization and show them appreciation as well as differentiate the organization from its competitors
(sharp, 2017).
Work experience is creating a healthy environment for the employees to manage between their work
life responsibilities and their personal life demands such as flexible schedules, in order to maintain their
happiness in working for the organization (Johnston, n.d).

Recognition is making the employees feel that their performance in their jobs is appreciated, it is
important to value and recognize them in order to successfully achieve the organization goals (sharp,
2017).

Learning and development is offering training to the employees to help develop their skills and
knowledge into providing a better performance in their duties as well as improving their careers
(Johnston, n.d).

Justification of the recommendation

Compensation
Many internal factors can effect a company decisions. As a small-medium enterprise the company
resources are not as strong in the main time. The average pay for a public relations manager is $107,320
while the lowest is $78,710 annually (Johnson, n.d). Thus, coffee land café will provide a base wage in
between the average and the lowest pay. Moreover, the café will provide a profit sharing bonus that
would lead to motivating the employee to perform better and improving effectiveness (pestleanalysis,
2015). On the other hand, external factors that can influence the organization are the labor law of
Bahrain (pestleanalysis, exteral factors that affect a business, 2016). As stated in article (54) an
employee working should receive for any additional working hour an increase on his due wage by at
least 25% for additional hours during the day and at least 50% for additional hours during the night
(authority, 2014).
Benefits
Coffee land café wants to make the best out of its internal factors that can affect the company by
providing a suitable benefit package. Therefore, the organization will manage to cover full school
expenses for one child in order to maintain the employee trust and differentiate themselves from their
competitors. Furthermore, if the candidate is not from Bahrain then the café will include a house rent
allowance to support them in covering their rent and show appreciation. As for the external factors, the
labor law of Bahrain article (65) states that any employee that has completed three months working for
the organization is likely to have sick leave for either fifteen days on full pay, twenty days on half pay or
twenty days without pay (authority, 2014). Adding to that, the social insurance law of Bahrain article (1)
clarifies that an employee should have social insurance such as unemployment insurance which protects
the employee if he becomes unemployed (organization, n.d).

Work experience
As an internal factor the café will provide financial support program to help the employees in their funds
and show them a sense of security. Furthermore, coffee land will make sure to present their employees
with flexible timing schedules to be able for the employees to manage their work and personal life. As
an external factor, the coffee shop will give maternity leave for full sixty days as it’s stated in the labor
law of Bahrain article (32A). Adding to that, according to article (67) in the labor law of Bahrain a Muslim
employee who has completed five years working for the organization is entitled to have fourteen day
paid leave to perform his hajj (authority, 2014).

Recognition, Achievement and Growth


Coffee land café focuses on appreciation in the internal factor. Thus, the company will provide a one on
one meeting every year to discuss progress and show gratitude for their hard work. Furthermore, to
encourage their employee in performing well and providing their best in their duties the café will
provide employee of the month award at the end of each month. However, as for the external element
the coffee shop promises the candidate promotions depending on their performance to be able to
maintain the employee loyalty to the company instead of it competitors.

Learning and development


As for the development of the employee, internal factors that will affect the café are the reputation and
public figure of the organization. Therefore, coffee land decided to provide training in public speaking
for the public relation manager role in the company to make sure that the employee delivers the right
image of the organization. Adding to that, the company also will provide self development tools in order
to develop the employee competencies and skills in order to attempt their responsibilities to achieve
the company goals. On the other hand, the market size of the coffee industry has grown up from 7
billion to 8 billion within 5 years which demonstrate the tough competition in the coffee industry
(Holmes, 2012). Consequently, coffee land will provide new technology training every year to keep up
the upgrade of the technology in order to differentiate the coffee shop from it competitors.

Overall Justification: a suitable candidate for a public relation manager must have the suitable
degree to fill the role including no less than two years experience to have knowledge of the working
environment. In addition, the applicant must contain the listed above skills and abilities which are
effective communication, working under pressure and multi tasking because the public relation role
contains a massive of hard work and stress in order to accomplish the organization goals.

the company to the public. Furthermore, to communicate with the public
through press realise and media and to maintain strong communication
between the organization and it clients.
