Cambium Discovery Tool Primer

Overview
The Cambium Discovery Tool is a great way to quickly retrieve device information from your local network (ePMP, PMP
450 and also non-Cambium devices).

Discovery services are handled automatically by the Cambium Discovery Tool, and results for device Name, Model,
Software Version, IP Address, and MAC address are displayed in a table as follows:

Note
The Cambium Discovery Tool uses LLDP and MNDP protocols to discover devices on the local
network. See section ePMP Configuration Requirements for information on enabling these protocols for
ePMP discovery.

Cambium Discovery Tool Installation / Startup – Windows

The following instructions detail installation of the Cambium Discovery Tool for Windows:
1. Download the installer executable CambiumDiscoveryToolSetup-1.0-RC5-signed.exe from
support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/epmp
2. Run the downloaded executable file CambiumDiscoveryToolSetup-1.0-RC5-signed.exe.
3. Identify the installation folder and Start Menu folder for installation:

Note
If an error message is displayed during the installation of the
accompanying WinPcap software, click Ignore and the installation will
continue.

4. Click I Agree and then Install to complete the WinPcap installation:

WinPcap may also be installed from https://winpcap.org.

5. Launch the application by navigating to Start -> All Programs -> CambiumDiscoveryTool and clicking
CambiumDiscoveryTool

Cambium Discovery Tool Installation / Startup – MacOS

The following instructions detail installation of the Cambium Discovery Tool for MacOS:
1. Download the installer executable CambiumDiscoveryToolMacOSApp-1.0-RC5.tar.gz from
support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/epmp
2. Double-click file CambiumDiscoveryToolMacOSApp-1.0-RC5.tar.gz to decompress, untar, and extract the
executable file Cambium Discovery Tool
3. Double-click the executable file Cambium Discovery Tool

4. If an unidentified developer message is displayed, click OK then navigate to System Preferences > Security &
Privacy. Click Open Anyway to start the application.

Cambium Discovery Tool Installation / Startup – MacOS / Linux (Command-line)

The following instructions detail installation of the Cambium Discovery Tool for MacOS/UNIX/Linux:
5. Download the installer executable CambiumDiscoveryToolMacOSApp-1.0-RC5.tar.gz from
support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/epmp
6. Decompress the gzip archive by issuing command gzip –d CambiumDiscoveryToolMacOSApp-1.0-
RC5.tar.gz:

7. Extract the tar archive by issuing command tar –xvf CambiumDiscoveryToolMacOSApp-1.0-RC5.tar:

8. Launch the application by navigating to directory [Downloads]/Cambium Discovery Tool.app/Contents/MacOS

and issuing command ./JavaAppLauncher &

ePMP Configuration Requirements

In order to discover ePMP devices with the Cambium Discovery Tool, ensure that the accessing computer is
located on the same subnet and that the ePMP devices have either MAC-Telnet Access or LLDP enabled.

MAC-Telnet is enabled in the ePMP web management interface menu Configuration > System:
