provided feedback and the paraprofessional was walking arounding monitoring the students. Chants and counting were techniques
for calling the students back to attention. The teacher asked students to restate several times what they would be doing? She

Observation Ratings
Domain: 2 - Instruction
Component: 3 - 3d: Using Assessment in Instruction
Component Rating: 4 - Highly Effective
Observation Comments
The teacher asked several questions, monitored students responses to peers, and provided feedback to students as they worked.
The teacher encouraged and redirected during her instruction and during students working. While the teacher encouraged students
to work together at their desks, she changed as a result of their struggles.

Observation Notes
See below.

Areas of Strength
The teacher has high expectations and a clear vision of what she wants her students to do. She is clear, direct and flexible in her
instructional decisions.

Areas of Improvement
My suggestion is to make adjustments for when doing something old "new again". Meaning, if students have not done grouping for
some time, I think the first day is just focus on the set-up with no real work expected. This particular population needs solid
reteaching, just as if it was their first time.

Next Steps
The fourth grade resource teacher has 36 years of experience in making these kind of decisions and will help in some of
management. Please schedule a meeting with her to review the comments in the management section of this observation.

Scoring
