Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

The percentage of unemployment rate is increasing every year. Having newly fresh

graduates who are not sure what jobs to take are being added to those people who graduated

that is still unemployed or being unemployed by their past jobs. The Bukidnon State

University (BuKSU) are also fading difficulty in search of a job offer they graduate. Having

responsibilities or mouths to feed or even personal needs requires money.

Job fairs is an avenue for organizations to find or match job seekers that has

potential for their office or companies. Job fair also gives opportunities to those job seekers

to learn about available opportunities and potential employers for them to apply.

Nowadays, Web-Based Job Fairs or recruitment is more popular. The Purpose of this

Online Job Fairs is to look for potential applicants from different places and it is more

convenient and easy to do.

That is why job matching and job categories are being implemented. Job category

is to differentiate skill set and interest of each job seekers and let them pick the jobs. While

Job matching is where Job providers/Employer’s they want requirements are being

matched to the job seekers which already met by the skills, experience, or resume to theirs.

Job fairs are to give people opportunities to apply for a vacant job related to their

skills and resume, else their chance of getting employed will be lower. This research study

is not limited to fresh graduated or unemployed people but also to the students inside the

campus seeking to be a working student, of course required the skills needed by those who

will hire them. This enables students to be aware of becoming a working student that they

can especially those who doesn’t know they can be or are afraid of becoming one. Do the

students really need this? Students needs confidence in order to gain experience they need

in their future job applications.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

According to the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) the Philippine has an

unemployment rate of 5.3% as of January 2018 and the Region X has an unemployment

rate of 3 % as of January 2018. It is also shown that the Region X has the highest

unemployment rate over the Philippines, this means that Bukidnon State University is also

affected since it is under Region 10. Therefore, the problem addressed in this study a Web

Based Job Fair for BukSU Students for the Bukidnon State University Graduates,

Bukidnon State University Alumni, Working Students and Student Assistant which could

be efficiently handled by the researcher’s project.

1.4 Objectives

This study aims to design, develop and implement a Web-based Job Fair for BukSU

Students to facilitate and manage the various information of the job seekers and job

provider.

To Develop a web-based inquiry system that will provide updated posting of job

vacancies, job description, job qualification, job requirements and job procedure to give

efficient information to the job seekers. Implement an efficient employment services by

providing web-based job application for applicants that will accommodate the application

anytime at any given location. Facilitate job search. Connecting the Job Seeker and

Provider. Searched for best candidates available. Online Submission, resume upload for

job seekers, and discussion and Posting Information.

1.5 Significance of the Study

The web-based Job fair for Bukidnon State University graduates who are seeking

for a job can help those students having difficulties to find particular job that suited in their

professions. The students can able to search any job that they want to apply. The Study

aims to help the Alumni of Bukidnon State University and under-graduate students who

are seeking for part-time job like student assistant (SA) and summer jobs. The employer

can also benefit in this study because they can easily find an applicant that are suited in

their company.

1.6 Scope and Limitation

This research is conducted and is intended to help students and graduates find a

job that is related to their skills and resume. This study is only limited inside the campus

of Bukidnon State University. This includes Bukidnon State University students and

graduates. The reason of being limited to campus isn’t only because of testing our

research but also for the benefit to our fellow students and alumni. This also aims to help

employers or job providers find suitable applicants or job seekers that meets their

requirements and skills needed for job vacancies.

1.7 Definition of Terms

 OSS - An acronym for Office of Students services, this is where information about a

student form Bukidnon State University is being kept. This is also where students

apply scholarships and other things.

 Web-Based Job Fairs - This is a typical Job Fair but the difference is that this is

being held on the internet and have other features like online resume application and

others.

 Job Matching - Matching employers requirements to job seeker’s resume.

 Job Search Engine - Used to search each job category and the job itself.

 PSA – An acronym for Philippine Statistics Authority serves as the central statistical

authority on primary data collection in the Philippines.

 SA – An acronym for Student Assistant they had an ability to work minimum

supervision and make independent decisions.

 SDLC - Software development life cycle is a framework defining tasks performed at

each step in the software development process.

 RAD- Rapid Application Development is a suite of software development

methodology techniques use to expedite and tools to produce software application.
