Universal  Design  for  Learning  (UDL):  There  are  a  variety  of  UDL  tools  that  can  be  used  to  benefit  children  
while  working  online.  The  roller  ball  mouse  can  be  used  for  children  who  have  difficulty  with  fine/gross  motor  
skills  and  have  issues  using  a  regular  mouse.  Exercise  ball  chairs  are  great  for  students  with  ADHD  and  need  to  
move  around  to  keep  focus.  For  students  who  have  difficulty  reading,  they  can  use  software  that  reads  the  
content  aloud  for  them  from  the  website  and  then  write  down  information.    
 
Lesson  idea  implementation:        
               The  teacher  will  introduce  the  project  to  the  students  before  going  over  the  content.  This  activity  will  be  
used  to  build  the  foundation  of  information  before  learning  it  all  in  class.  Over  the  course  of  two  days,  
students  will  work  on  this  activity  by  gathering  information  and  then  compiling  it  together  to  make  a  concept  
map.  Students  will  choose  a  famous  person  from  Georgia  history  from  the  list  in  the  standard.  Working  
independently,  they  will  research  this  famous  person  in  the  library  or  the  internet.  They  will  then  use  Popplet  
to  create  an  interactive  concept  map  using  facts,  pictures  and  any  other  important  materials.  
         When  they’re  finished,  all  of  the  students  with  the  same  person  will  share  their  concept  maps  to  the  class.  
As  the  students  are  sharing,  the  rest  of  the  class  is  writing  down  information  in  their  Social  Studies  notebook.  
The  teacher  will  take  notes  on  each  of  the  presentations  and  provide  feedback  to  students  individually.  This  
activity  will  be  beneficial  to  all  students  because  it  gives  them  different  opportunities  to  show  the  information

they’ve  gathered,  whether  it  is  in  pictures  or  words.    
 
 
Reflective  Practice:  I  feel  that  this  lesson  would  be  beneficial  for  all  students  because  it’s  a  different  way  of  
gathering  information  than  just  normal  pen  and  paper,  or  even  basic  productivity  tools  like  PowerPoint.  I  feel  
that  this  lesson  could  be  improved  by  allowing  children  with  the  same  historical  figure  to  collaborate  on  their  
concept  maps  and  bounce  ideas  off  of  one  another.  This  activity  allows  students  to  have  independence  and  
be  in  charge  of  their  own  learning  by  researching  the  content  before  learning  it  in  class.  This  activity  could  be  
enhanced  by  using  another  presentation  software,  where  the  students  will  take  the  information  they’ve  
gathered  on  their  concept  map  and  turning  it  into  a  piece  of  writing.
