INDUSTRY PROFILE
The Indian automotive industry has flourished like never before in the recent
years. This extraordinary growth that the Indian automotive industry has witnessed is a
result of liberalization initiated by the government of India, which have played an
important role in bringing the Indian automotive industry in great heights.

The Indian automotive components industry manufactures a wide range of parts

including castings, forging, finished and semi-finished components, assemblies and sub-
assemblies. Its development has been aided by the arrival of OEM to India in the 1990’s
and the increasing exposure of Indian companies to international competitions and best
practices.

India’s automotive accessories industry is being urged by the government to

partner with overseas firms with the aim of making India a platform for outsourcing as
well as global R&D hub. As the Indian vehicles production industry has grown, so has
the domestic supplier industry but the global auto industries such for low cost and more
international outsourcing has lead to a sharp growth in the components output and
exports in recent years.

Factors such as superior engineering skills, modest domestic market growth, the
sophistication of its IT industry and increasing free trade agreements in addition to low
cost are expected to boost India’s auto component sector growth over other countries in
the environment of shoring to low cost countries. The explosive of automobiles industry
has rendered the automobile manufactures to produce right quality of accessories for
automobiles.

The automotive industry is the industry involved in the design, development,

manufacture, marketing, and sale of motor vehicles. In 2007, more than 73 million motor

million in Asia-Pacific. 19.4 million in USA and Canada, 4.4 million in Latin America,
2.4 million in the Middle East and 1.4 million in Africa.

The markets in North America and Japan were stagnant, while those in South
America and Asia grew strongly. Of the major markets, Russia, Brazil and China saw the
most rapid growth. In 2008, with rapidly rising oil prices, industries such as the
automotives industry are experiencing a combination of pricing pressures from raw
material costs and changes in consumer buying habits. The industry is also facing
increasing external competition from the public transport sector, as consumers re-
evaluate their private vehicle usage.

The success of an organization depends upon the ability of its employees in order

to increase the productivity, prevents employee turnover and increase the overall

performance of the company. The study has helped me in some suggestion to improving

the over all performance of the company. After the study made by me I can say that the

overall performance of company can be improved in three ways through use of

technology, though effective Human Resources and high performance work system.

The study on “Overall Performance of Roots Industries India Limited” is carried

out. The overall performance of the company as this organization is using their

technology; many new customers are attracted towards the company. After conducting

the study the organization has to take necessary steps to implement the strategy to

improve the overall performance of the company. This study showed the employees are

satisfied with the facilities provided by the company. The salesman in the previous year

has been improved when compared to present sales. The overall profit of the present year

has been increased.
