International Day of Yoga Celebrated at Jagan Nath University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana

Jagan Nath University faculty, staff and students celebrated International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2018 at

its campus in lecture-cum-demonstration mode. On this occasion Prof. H. L. Verma, the Vice-Chancellor

of the University highlighted the importance of yoga in human life in aligning mind, body, health with

nature for holistic health, happiness and harmony. He stated that yoga is a part of spiritual science and

focuses on achieving union in mind and body to attain self realization. Yoga is science and art for healthy

and happy life. Yoga practice helps overcome sufferings with sense of freedom in every walk of life and it

works at the level of mind, body, emotions and energy.

He elaborated that yoga is important in daily life and one remains energetic by doing yoga everyday to

serve profession and humanity with much better performance in an enjoyful style. He also discussed

about the various approaches of yoga which include Bhakti Yog, Karma Yog, Hath Yog, Dhyan Yog, Matra

Yog, Raj Yog, Jain Yog, Budh Yog and others.

The yoga teacher Mr. Pardeep Kumar demonstrated the Yoga Asans. All the participants performed the

Asans with interest and diligence. He explained the benefits of yoga and also the precautions to the

yoga performers in special cases. The participants learnt yogic exercises and concept of yoga in an

atmosphere of happiness and sanctity.

At this moment the Vice-Chancellor suggested that in order to promote yoga in the University, we are

planning to introduce yoga course of one credit as open elective as well as integrating the yoga in various

courses in different streams from the current session.
