II. Uses

PRESENT TENSES FOR FUTURE TIME NAME: _____________________________

I. Present Continuous: sử dụng thì HTTD để diễn tả những kế hoạch trong tương lai đã được sắp xếp, chuẩn bị (đặc biệt
khi bao gồm người khác và có nói rõ ngày, giờ): I’m studying at Dave’s tomorrow.
*Ý nghĩa tương lai của HTTD được chỉ ra bằng trạng từ chỉ thời gian (tomorrow, next week,…) hoặc bằng ngữ cảnh.
*Với động từ “go” và “come”, thường dùng HTTD hơn là “Be going to” để nói đến kế hoạch trong tương lai.
II. Present Simple:
a) sử dụng thì HTĐ để diễn tả lịch trình (lịch chiếu phim, giờ tàu, xe, …)
My plane arrives at 7.35 tomorrow evening.
*Chỉ có thể dùng HTĐ để diễn tả tương lai với một số động từ nhất định. Các động từ thường dùng là: be, arrive, leave,
start, begin, end, finish, open, close, be.
b) sử dụng thì HTĐ để diễn tả thời gian tương lai trong các mệnh đề chỉ thời gian (bắt đầu bằng when, as soon as, until,
before, after, while …)
I’ll go to bed when I come home tonight. (NOT when I’ll come home tonight.)
*Chú ý: cần phân biệt “when” đứng đầu một mệnh đề chỉ thời gian và “when” với vai trò làm đại từ để hỏi: When will you
come back?
III. Cấu trúc “be about to”: diễn đạt hành động trong một tương lai rất gần (vài phút hoặc vài giây)
The baby is about to cry. (The baby is going to cry in the next few seconds.)
