heart of the Island of Java,
Indonesia
• A leading education and tourism
destination in Indonesia,
• In 2012, numbers of tourist about
2,4 millions person, 200.000
tourists being foreigners,
• Managing and developing
Malioboro area is important,
considering that the inner-city area
has become the image of
Yogyakarta city, from social,
economical, cultural and
environmental aspects
Potentials
• Malioboro area is the magnet for
tourism, either local, domestic or
international tourists, since this area
has great attractiveness,
• Wide sidewalks (about 6 meters)
• Lively and dynamic area, being
always full of pedestrians

SIDE-TRACKING
Transfer of Malioboro street functions from street
for motor vehicle to non-motor vehicle area. 2
ENHANCE THE OUTER-ROAD
Development of Malioboro outer-road as the main
access to the area. In addition, the outer-road is the
solution to move the traffic previously passing
through Malioboro area.
IMPROVE VENTILATION STREET
Development of ventilation street as the main 3
access to the area, which connects access from
motor vehicle (road and parking area) to pedestrian
area.
PROVIDE PARKING LOTS / BUILDING
provide adequate parking building incorporated
directly through the ventilation access to

ARRANGEMENT SPACE USAGE
Rearrangement of spatial allocation in the
pedestrian area, with the concept to improve
convenience of pedestrian to move in the area. In 5
addition, it is expectedly to increase the business
potential of the area.
