ABSTRACT

Background : Uncontrolled population growth can lead to population problems and it can be the
indirect cause of increasing in maternal mortality rate. One of the government's efforts to reduce
the population’s growth is family planning program using contraception. Based on research in
2015, the use of contraceptive in Indonesia is dominated by the use of injections (34.3%) and pill
(13.9%). However, the use of contraceptives method has dropout rate higher than other modern
contraceptives method, which is 40.7% on the type of pill and 24.7% on injection. In anticipating
dropout rate of contraceptive use and also control population growth, the national family planning
program in Indonesia is directed and encouraged for using of long-term contraceptive methods
(well known as MKJP). Pameungpeuk is a region which has the second largest population with
the highest number of babies born alive in South of West Java, but the proportion of the active
user of long term contraceptive methods are at a low position (17.66%).

term contraceptive methods on family planning acceptors in the workplace of Pameungpeuk public
hospital in 2016.
Materials dan Method : The study used cross sectional design with systematic random sampling.
The sample in this study were 90 family planning acceptors. We performed data analysis by using
SPSS and chi-square test.
Result : We found significant relation between patients’ trust on health provider (p=0.007) and
related skills of health provider (p=0.002) with using of long-term contraceptive methods. While
knowledge (p=0.749), attitude (p=1.00), information exposure contraception (p= 0.148),
husband’s support (p=1.00), friend’s support (p=0.589), health provider’s support (p=1.00), and
the support of leaders in the community (p=0.937) have no significant relation with the use of
long-term contraceptive methods. Therefor, Pameungpeuk public hospital expected to maintain
