INTRODUCTION - DIFFERENCES OF POWER PLANTS
- Generate the formation of black smoke, soot, - Use natural gas, the same that is used for
particles, oxides of sulfur or ash. domestic use.
- Lower energy efficiency (30-34% yield). - Higher energy efficiency (56% yield).
- Longer construction time (5-7 years). - Lower construction time (2.5 years).

Objetives
Supply clean water to the condenser of the steam turbine for
optimal operation of the plant.
Take advantage of the residual heat obtained from the steam
generation system, to produce sodium hypochlorite using
seawater.
Take advantage of the sodium hypochlorite generated by
seawater to offer it as a by-product.

1V. Conclusions and Recommendations
Conclusions
The use of a combined cycle plant allows to increase the efficiency of the processes compared to a thermal
plant. In addition, it uses natural gas and does not need a large infrastructure to establish it, so its construction
time is lower compared to thermal plants.
To produce sodium hypochlorite using seawater, four processes were established: pre-treatment, main
treatment, secondary treatment and osmosis.
After having identified the instrumentation, the costs of these instruments were evaluated by web pages of
engineering on the Internet, it was defined that the total cost of implementation would be $ 1,362,867.73.
Recommendations
Establish the minimum required volumes of water, neutralizing substances, absorbent materials and
extinguishers for the attention of environmental contingencies.
It is necessary to carry out a total revision of all the equipment to comply with the electrical specifications
required by the weatherproof, drip, explosion proof, correct wiring, etc. process.
It is recommended to implement this process of chlorine production through sea water since it is safe,
reduces operational costs and above all improves water quality.
