Jasper-Swim Steadily Strokes to the Top

Q Carolyn Quest
Staff Writer

Two of the youngest teams at MC are

building a foundation for athletic and aca-
demic success this season. Coach Walter
Olsewski, returning for his 14th consecu-
tive year for the Women’s Swim Team and
3rd for the Men’s, has long held team unity
and a MC education as core principles for
success.
The men and women’s swim team com-
bined placed 9th last year at the MAAC Cham-
pionships. The women’s team is working
harder than ever to improve. Returning
member junior Bridget Latino (Fly) is close
to breaking MC swim records.
Debbie Atwell, Rebecca Schwarts, and
Kayla Hutzler are captains this year, while
seven newcomers also help build the team:
Melanie Tam, Vanessa L’Heurex, MaryLynn
McMahon, Nicole Bullard, Kerri O’Keef, Lau-
ren Bender, and Jackie Mamary.

Coach Olsewski has high expectations
for the women’s swim team, believing they
will qualify for the ECAC Open Swimming
and Diving Championships and will keep
their unprecedented academic standing.
