Web 2.0 Assignment

` Name of Tool: KidBlog

URL: https://kidblog.org/home/

Description of Tool: This is very much like the discussion board on eCourseware.
Your students can write a blog and post it in a specific location, and other classmates
may read it.

How the tool can be used by the teacher: This tool can be used by a teacher by setting
up the page where student’s upload their individual blogs. This is a good crossover
from writing to technology, where students may write essays using their keyboards,
instead of pen and paper.

How tool can be used by student: The students may write their own blogs, and read
other peers blogs as an example work, much like the discussion board on
eCourseware.

Some advantages of using the tool: This is a good crossover from writing to
technology, where students may write essays using their keyboards, instead of pen
and paper.

Name of Tool: Sketchboard

URL: https://sketchboard.io/

Description of Tool: This tool allows you to connect with other people via their email.
Once you have connected with them and made a “team”, you can sketch out ideas,
using tools that are like the tools on the Paint program. However, the difference is that
the people on your team can see you sketching out your ideas in real time.

How the tool can be used by the teacher: This can be used to check a group’s
understanding of a concept. For example, let’s say you assign a project on graphic
organizers and you put your class into groups of 4. This program would allow your
students to work together, and you would be able to tune in to their “team” and watch
their thought processes.

How tool can be used by student: This tool can be useful for students by collaborating
with their classmates. They will also be able to use their own computers while
working with other classmates. This way, they will not be crammed all on one
computer.

Some advantages of using the tool: The biggest advantage of this tool is being able to
see the process of the student’s thought in real time.

Name of Tool: Kahoot

URL: https://kahoot.it/

Description of Tool: In this program, the teacher may either make a quiz, or select one
that has already been made. Then the teacher will put up the projector so that the
questions will be displayed. The students must use their laptops, phones, or any other
mobile device to type in a code and join the quiz. The students will only have a few
minutes to answer each question before it moves onto the next question. The person
who answers the most questions correctly and gets the most points wins the game.

How the tool can be used by the teacher: This can be used by the teacher for checking
the students understanding on a specific topic collectively, as a class.

How tool can be used by student: This can be used by the student by testing the
student on their knowledge while making it a competition. (Which makes it more
fun!)

Some advantages of using the tool: The advantages of this tool is to make a practice
quiz fun, and to test their knowledge as a group.

Name of Tool: Go Noodle

URL: https://www.gonoodle.com/

Description of Tool: This is a tool to help younger kids get moving while learning
through fun songs and dance moves. You can put this program up on a projector, and
select different songs and videos. Then you can watch as your kids have fun by
dancing, singing, and most importantly, learning!

How the tool can be used by the teacher: This can be used by a teacher to get the kids
active while learning basic concepts.

How tool can be used by student: The students are learning while having fun dancing
and singing.
Caitlin Gillespie

Some advantages of using the tool: Children in elementary school need to be active.
Sitting in a desk all day, trying to get a small child to learn is next to impossible.
However, with this program, the student can move, sing, and dance while learning
important concepts.

Name of Tool: Star Fall

URL: http://www.starfall.com/

Description of Tool: While you can buy a version of Starfall, there is a section where
you can play some of the games for free. This program can be played on laptops,
iPad, or other mobile devices. I personally have used this program with my kids at
work, and I think it works best, collaboratively speaking, when projected onto a
smartboard. Children can play games on this program to learn about important
concepts while one-by-one, coming up to the board and selecting the answer they
think is correct.

How the tool can be used by the teacher: This tool can be used by helping teachers
understand their student’s understanding on a specific topic.

How tool can be used by student: When used on a Smart Board, the students can use
their peers as an example of how to use the technology. They can also use their peers
as an example of how to understand the important content in the game.

Some advantages of using the tool: Children work better when working collectively.
By having a child come up to the board to select an answer, they are setting an
example for the other children, and perhaps helping the other children learn what to
do or what not to do.
