Significance of the Study

This chapter presents background material that will encourage the exploration of what is known about
the first of these assumptions, that depression is a set of distinctive disorders. This exploration leads to
consideration of the evidence that bears on the second assumption, that there is a well-defined, specific
treatment for depression. In this way, a decision can be made as to whether the guidelines that are
presented, based on principles of differential effect, are more or less useful than those based on
assumptions about the specificity of depression and its treatment.(Beutler, Clarkin, Bongar;2013)
This study was design to know the perspective of grade 10 students about depression. The study of
perspective of grade 10 student about depression will be beneficial to many people. The researchers of
this study observed that grade 10 students have broad perspective about depression. Sad, lonely, every
night crying, feeling down to something, quiet and moody; these are just some of the students ideas
about the symptoms of depression.
The outcome of the study are beneficial to the following ( Salmorin, 2006):

To the students, this study will be able to help them know the symptoms of depression. And how
emotional problems affect them.
To the parents/ guardians, this study will help them to know if their child was experiencing depression.
This will also help them realize how important good- relationship with children and right principles to be
exerted when they discipline their children.
To the media, this study will give them ideas to raise awareness on teenagers about depression.
To the future researchers of depression, this study will help them to have additional information and
insights. It will also help them to have an idea of exploring and to discuss the problem with a right
format and how they will survey and explain the perspective of grade 10 students on depression.

Data gathering procedure

The researchers conduct a survey by giving questionnaires to grade 10 students both male and female in
Bacoor City. Researchers also made online survey questionnaires for grade 10 students, the online
survey questionnaires wasn’t limited in one place only, it was made it for all grade 10 students. Before
distributing the questionnaires, the researchers made an introduction about the study. Once the data
was completed and gathered, researchers tallied the results from the survey. The results would
hopefully be the basis to have a insights about the perspective of grade 10 about depression.
