10 DESIGN OF END ANCHORAGE

Thickness of web near support. = 650 mm

Size of end anchorage block. = 275 mm
Spacing of anchorage block along the web. = 370 mm
Grade of concrete. fck = 45 Mpa
Grade of reinfocrment. fy = 500 Mpa
Strenth of concrete at 7 days fcj = 0.855fck <= 35 = 35 Mpa

Required shear friction reinforcement

Permissible bearing stress behind anchorage

fb = 0.48fcj*(A2/A1)0.5 or 0.8fcj whichever is smaller

[refer Cl. 7.3 IRC-18]
A1 = 0.0756 m2
A2 = 0.1369 m2
fb = 0.48fcj*(A2/A1)0.5 = 2260 t/m2
fb = 0.8fcj = 2800 t/m2
Hence permissible bearing stress behind anchorage = 2260 t/m2

Max force in cable after friction and slip loss = 273 t

Bearing stress developed = 3610 t/m2
> 2260 t/m2

Hence allowable stress behind anchorage has been suitbly increased by providing hoop
reinforcement as per Clause 7.3 IRC:18.

CEB-FIP model code is used to calculate the increase in permissible bearing stress.

Use 16 f spiral with 360 mm inner dia and 60 mm spacing

Increase in force D F = 1.3*u/s*As*fyd-(Ac1-Ac2)*fcd*(1-(8*Msdu)/(u/pi *Nsdu))
Where,
u = Perimeter of hoop u = 1.18 m
s = Hoop spacing s = 0.06 m
As = Cross sectional area of hoop reinforcement. As = 0.0002 cm2
fyd = Design strength of hoop fyd = 43500 t/m2
Ac1= A2 Ac1 = 0.1369 m2
Ac2 = Area of conc rete within hoop reinforcement. Ac2 = 0.10 m2
fcd = fcj/1.5 fcd = 2333 t/m2
Msdu = Max moment in hoop reinforced zone. Msdu = 0.00 t-m
D F = 1.3*u/s*As*fyd-(Ac1-Ac2)*fcd*(1-(8*Msdu)/(u/pi *Nsdu)) = 141.92 t
