“From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with
which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body
grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Ephesians 4:16 ESV
How powerful are these words from Paul to the church at Ephesus. Not only
powerful but practical. These words from Paul are timely for this
congregation as the church council is set to mail out a survey to all members.
This survey evaluates what you as people of God, called to serve in this time
and place, see as areas of strength and also areas of growth. As you
prayerfully contemplate your responses to the survey keep these words from
Paul in mind.
Each of you is and has been equipped by God to serve within this body we call
the church. When all are actively involved, using that with which we have
been equipped we can not only serve but build up this body…this congregation
in love. Why does this matter? A congregation built with love, and working
properly can then impact more fully the people within and beyond the
congregation. All of which God has called us to do, to embody our faith and
impact those around us.
The survey was designed carefully by your council to lift up things that Peace
Lutheran has and is doing well. To celebrate the ways you as a congregation
are already embodying your faith and reaching out to the neighbor. The intent
is to also name those areas of growth, the challenges that may be hard to talk
about along with those things that very evident that as a congregation we can
do better at. It is vital to this ministry that all of you take the time to pray,
discern, and take the necessary time to fill out this questionnaire. The health
and ministry of this congregation depends on it, which means that the mission
of Christ to the neighbors in this community depends on it.

Imagine having to choose between a meal or purchasing a notebook. School
Kits are sent to places where even the few required school supplies may be
more than a family can afford. Pencils and paper can help write a positive
future.
Personal Care Kits are shared with people who have lost everything from a
natural disaster or life-threatening violence. Give hope through a bar of soap.
Baby Care Kits are distributed as part of emergency relief efforts but they are
also given to encourage expectant women to seek prenatal care. Help
welcome the littlest ones into a caring international community and swaddle
them with love!
Lutheran World Relief Kits One of LWR's flagship programs – started in 1945 and
continuing today – is its Quilt & Kit Ministry. Each year Lutherans across the United
States assemble and donate LWR Mission Quilts, as well as several kinds of care kits to
assist people living in poverty in times of emergency or great need.
