And to the Pegster, always willing to listen, read, edit, and advise
throughout the life of this project, I am most grateful.
I’ve read hundreds of acknowledgments in as many books, and they all
seem to conclude with the same admission of failure: the impossibility of
including all the people who’ve contributed to and supported the effort it
takes to complete this sort of project. However, I’ve not yet read one that
included you, the reader. This project will be complete when you’ve
finished your first true process audit. It will soon be you I wish to thank
most of all for the ultimate completion of this work, as you give life to a new
methodology that grew in response to an impassioned dinner conversation.
Finally, for all this to have amazingly come together affirms a wonder-
ful truth, a special life force: There are no coincidences. Thanks to the Spirit
that awakens and nurtures the unlimited possibilities in us all.

the 1994 and the 2000/2008 editions of the ISO 9001 standard is clear. This
time ISO is a business tool, invaluable to the company to manage its most
important affairs. PDCA auditing brings the entire process of planning,
implementation, measurement, and improvement to the attention of the
people most in need of this information.
Those decisions are easier to make when it’s clear that an investment
will deliver a return. The more obvious it is to invest, the less risk of wasting
money. PDCA audits are an excellent way to determine whether investments
in processes are actually performing as expected.
