El trabajo que se presenta a continuación estudia las actividades de la cadena de

cuero, calzado e industria marroquinera: la producción de cuero crudo, el procesamiento de

la piel en la actividad de curtiembre, la producción de productos de marroquinería, y

talabartería y la industria del calzado.

El proceso productivo de la cadena de cuero se divide en cuatro grandes actividades

que son: producción de cuero crudo, curtiembre, marroquinería y calzado. Una breve

descripción se presenta a continuación:

Producción de cuero crudo: la obtención del cuero crudo se da después del sacrificio

de los animales. Para la producción de la curtiembre, la principal materia prima es la piel

cruda de origen bovino.

Curtiembre: el curtido es el proceso de sometimiento de la piel a acciones físico–

químicas para convertirla en un material duradero. Esta parte del proceso de producción

comprende tres fases: la ribera, el curtido y el teñido y acabado.

Marroquinería y talabartería: de esta parte del proceso productivo se obtienen las

manufacturas de cuero y prendas de vestir de este material. Se compone de cinco pasos

básicamente: diseño, modelo, cortado, guarnecido, terminado y empaque.

Calzado: una característica importante del proceso de producción del calzado es que

requiere insumos diferentes al cuero, como son los textiles, el caucho y el plástico. El

proceso de fabricación del calzado se inicia con la fabricación de suelas, luego viene el

cortado de la pieza previamente patronada y, posteriormente, el proceso de guarnecido.

 Para llevar a cabo el análisis de la cadena productiva se parte del concepto de

eslabón, que es una agrupación de productos relativamente homogéneos en cuanto a

características técnicas de producción: materias primas, usos finales o intermedios y

tecnologías productivas.

A partir de la identificación del proceso productivo del cuero y sus manufacturas, se

distingue la cadena productiva, y en el cual se recogen las principales líneas de producción

y los diferentes productos del sector. En la cadena se distinguen cinco tipos de bienes

finales: calzado, vestuario, productos de marroquinería, productos de talabartería y artículos

de carnaza.
V. ABSTRAC

The work presented below studies the activities of the leather, footwear and leather

industry: the production of rawhide, the processing of leather in the tanning industry, the

production of leather goods, and saddlery and industry of footwear.

The productive process of the leather chain is divided into four major activities that

are: production of rawhide, tannery, leather goods and footwear. A brief description is

presented below:

Production of rawhide: obtaining rawhide occurs after the slaughter of the animals.

For the production of tannery, the main raw material is raw skin of bovine origin.

Tanning: tanning is the process of submitting the skin to physical-chemical actions

to turn it into a durable material. This part of the production process comprises three

phases: the bank, the tanning and the dyeing and finishing.

Leather goods and saddlery: from this part of the production process we obtain the

leather and garment manufactures of this material. It consists of five basic steps: design,

model, cut, trim, finished and packaging.

Footwear: an important feature of the footwear production process is that it requires

inputs other than leather, such as textiles, rubber and plastic. The shoe manufacturing

process begins with the manufacture of soles, then comes the cutting of the previously

patterned piece and, subsequently, the trim process.

 To carry out the analysis of the productive chain, we start with the link concept,

which is a grouping of relatively homogeneous products in terms of technical production

characteristics: raw materials, end or intermediate uses and productive technologies.

From the identification of the productive process of the leather and its manufactures,

the productive chain is distinguished, and in which the main lines of production and the

different products of the sector are collected. The chain distinguishes five types of final

goods: footwear, clothing, leather goods, saddlery products and articles of animal fodder.
