EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
IMMEDIATE CONCERNS :
- Light brown liquid with a soapy odor.
- Slightly combustible. May support combustion at elevated temperatures,
- Thermal decomposition and burning may form toxic by-product.
- For large exposures or fire, wear personal protective equipmeni.
- Highly toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Keep out of drains and water sourses.
- Expected to be moderately irritating to the skin and eyes.

POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS

Effects from overexposure result from inhalation or coming into contaci with the eyes or skin.
Symptoms of overexposure include decreased activity, tremors, convulsions, loss of bladder control,
incoordination, and increased sensitivity to sound. Contact with Cypermethrin may produce skin
sensations such as numbing, burning and tingling. These skin sensation are reversible and usually
subside within 12 hours.

5. EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID MEASURES

EYES : Flush with water for at least 15 minutes. lf irritation occurs and persists,
contact a medical doctor.
SKIN : Remove contaminated clothing and thoroughly wash with soap and water. lf initation occurs
and persists, contact a medicaldoctor.
INGESTION : Rinse mouth with water. Dilute by giving 1 or 2 glasses of water. tf the vicfim is fully
conscious, induce vomiting by tickling back of the throat. Do not administer milk, alcohol and fafty
substance. ln case the person is unconscious make sure the breathing passage is kept clear without
any obstruction. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Victim's head should be
turned to one side in the lying down position. ln case of breathing difficulty, give mouth to mouth or
See a medicaldoctor immediately.
INHALATION : Remive to fresh air. lf breathing difficulty or discomfort occurs and persists,
contact a medical doctor.
NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: No specific antidote. CYPERGARD 100 EC is a pyrethroid insecticide
containing the active ingredient cypermethrin. Oraltoxicity is low, but because rypermethrin is
lipophilic, do not administer milk, cream or other substance containing vegetable or animal fats, which
may enhance absorbtion. Treat symptomatically and supportively. lf a large quantity of the compound
has been swallowed, unless the patient is vomiting, gastric lavage should be performed using 5%
sodium bicarbonate solution, followed by powdered activated charcoal. Administer intravenously
phenobarbital or diphenyl hydantoin or their combinations, anti-convulsant drugs or diazepam group
of drugs. Attention shoufd be given to maintain respiratory, cardiovascufar and renalfunctions.

6. FIRE, EXPLOTION AND REACTIVITY

FLASH POINT:450C
EXTHINGUISHING MEDIA : Water fog may not be effective. Use foam, COz or dry chemical.
Minimize use of water and contain runoff.
EXPLOSION HAZARD : Sfightly combustibfe. This materialmay support combustion at elevated
temperatures.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Heat and fire may result in thermal
decomposition and the release of earbon monoxida, hydrogen cyanide, chlorine and
hydrogen chloride.

7. HEALTH INFORMATION
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY : Caution, harrnful if inhaled or swallowed.
ACUTE EFFECTS FROM OVEREXPOSURE : CYPERGARD 1OO EC is not a skin sensitizer,
Data from human experience indacates ihat cypermethrin, the active ingredient, may produce skin
sensations (feelings of burning, numbing, and tingling) in certain individuals. These sensations
subside and dissapear within a few hours. Large, toxic doses of CYPERGARD 100 EC administered
to laboratory animals have produced symptoms of central nervous system toxicity, such as muscular
incoordination, tremors, convulsions, and discharge from the mouth and anus.

8. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

EYES AND FACE : For splash, mist or spray exposure, wear chemical protective goggles or
a face shield.
RESPIRATORY : For splash, mist or spray exposure wear, as a minimum, a properly fitted half
face or full-fuce air-purifying respirator which is approved for pesticides. Use and selection of
respirator must be based on airborn concentration.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING : Depending upon concentrations encountered, wear coveralls or
long-sleeved uniform and head covering- For larger exposures in the case of spitts, wear full body
cover barrier suit, such as a PVC suit. Leather items-such as shoes, belts and watchbands that
become contaminated should be removed and destroyed. Launder allwork clothing before reuse
(separately from household laundry).

VENTILATION : use localexhaust at allprocess locations when vapor or mist is emitted. Store in
well-ventilated area. Ventilate alltransport vehicles prior to unloading.
GLOVES : Wear chemical protective gloves made of nitrile, neoprene, and when handling
this product.
