Steel Crochet Hook No. 1 Gaver: 5 stitches =I inch, 8 rows = 1 inch. Cast on 28 sts, with Chenille for neck edge. Work as for the first 12 rows as given for coat, having 4 sts. less across the back of neck. Then continue the 8 inereases as before and also inerease I st. each end to make “V" neck. Work. thus until 80 rows from the beginning. (A) Make open- work stripe with Angora as for the coat, work 8 rows Chenille. Repeat from twice. Change to cireular needles, K up Ww sleeve sts. Slip the 60 sleeve sts. between increases ‘on thread, K around and slip 60 sts. of second sleeve on a thread. Continue around joining front edges. Work around for 1 inch, decrease twice at underarm (3 sts, apart), repeat these 2 decreases on second underarm. De- crease 4 times to a round in this way every 1 inch for 4 inches. Then decrease every 2 inches until 8 inches from the underarm. Bind off. ‘Stueves: Slip sleeve sts. on straight needles, K I row, P 1 row for 4 inches. Sew in place. Attach Cordonné on lower edge of short side of band, ch. 1 inch, skip end of band for a loop, sc. over edge of sleeve opening and repeat loop over other end of band. Turn, sc. over loop and continue around sleeve increasing at the points, work over 2nd loop. With Angora sc. over lower edge of band and around sleeve opening and inerease at the points. Make Cordonné around neck edge, then s.. 1 row Angora. Make 3 folds of the extra fullness on each side of front below shoulder to form a cowl neck, and tack in place. With Cordonné ch, 2 inches, s«. 44 inch band. Place this band on wrong side undler pleats to hold in place, and draw end of it over neck edge to outside for 14 inch. Trim, with 3 graduated ornaments or clips as given below. These are made of graduated lengths cut from meat skewers or any other medium such as lead pencils. Make 8 bars 1 inch in tength, 2 bars 114 inch, 4 bars 2 inches, 2 bars 2/4 inches in length. Cover with Cordonné in sc. on the length, Cap the ends with Angora in Blanket stitch, Use I bar of each ‘of the 3 shorter lengths for neck trimming, Fasten a bar 1 inch length, each side of a 2 inch crocheted Cordon: strip 2 rows wide. Use these t0 slip through loops f sleeve fastening. Use 3 graduated bars on each end of belt. Cover a small weight with Cordonné in sc. Attach on inside of front neck edge to hold in cowl neck line. 3 rows sc. i SKIRT, Cast on 350 sts. on circular needle for lower edge. K around plain for 6 inches. Mark end of round. Ist de- crease: K every 34th and 35th sts tog. to end of round. K 2 inches; K every 82nd and 33rd sts. tog. to end of round.
