DID YOU PRAY FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL LEADERS?

…How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel and bring glad tidings…” (Rom. 10:15)
“…but Moses’ hands were heavy; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands…” (Exo. 17:12)
When last did you remember to pray for your leaders? Did you know your spiritual leaders (Pastors, Evangelists…et cetera) are gift to you?

Did you pray for them?

Did you know that your leaders are not “spiritual giants” and not without temptations?
Do you not know that their call to spiritual leadership does not lift them above the need of prayer?
Paul, the “chief of the Apostles”…
A man who wrote so much about prayer…
A man who taught so much on prayer…
A man who prayed…
A man who interceded so much for others in prayers…
Never thought it a sin to request prayers for himself from those he taught and wrote to?
Paul needed prayer. Paul “realized and acknowledged his dependence” on prayer.

It was never a shame to “solicit prayer for himself nor to urge the brethren everywhere to pray for him.”

He “had no need so pressing as the need of prayer.”

Paul asked the brethren to pray for him.

Does it baffle you to hear Paul requesting prayer from the very ones he ministered to?

Did you pray for your spiritual leaders?

Hear Paul’s request for prayer to the following churches…

“…At the same time, PRAY ALSO FOR US, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison—that I
may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.”(Col. 4:3)

“You also must HELP US BY PRAYER, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us THROUGH THE PRAYERS OF MANY.” (2Cor.
1:11)

“PRAY FOR US, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may
be restored to you the sooner. (Hebrews 13:18, 19)

“Finally, brothers, PRAY FOR US, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked
and evil men. For not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (2 Thes. 3:1-3)

“I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to STRIVE TOGETHER WITH ME IN YOUR PRAYERS to God on my behalf,
that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, so that by God's will I may come to you with
joy and be refreshed in your company.” (. Romans 15:30, 32)

“PRAYING AT ALL TIMES in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication FOR ALL THE
SAINTS, AND ALSO FOR ME, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in
chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.”(Ephesians 6:18-20)

Here is a little piece why we need to pray for our Spiritual Leaders…
o They are a gift to you and the church…Eph.4:8,11-12; Jer. 3:15
o They “watch for your souls, as they that must give account…Heb. 13:17
o They are “helpers of your joy…”…2Cor. 1:24
o When the leader is “smitten the sheep shall be scattered…” Zech. 13:7
o They preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings…Romans 10:15
o They have “sown unto you spiritual things”…ICor. 9:11
o Your prayers give spiritual support, upliftment and victory (as Hur and Aaron “stayed up” Moses “unsteady” hands to victory over the Amalek…
(Exo. 17:11-12)
o Your prayers help provide deliverance (spiritual or physical) as Peter was miraculously delivered from prison and “pending” death when “prayer was made
without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
