PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
September 30 & October 1 – No school on these days
Thursday, September 30:
Conferences will be held in the Cafeteria and you may visit any or all of your student’s teachers. Please bring a list
of the classes that your student is taking for your convenience. From 1:00-3:30 pm the teachers will be seated at
tables and you can drop by anytime but conferences are limited to 5 minutes per teacher. From 4:20-8:00 pm
conferences will be limited to 5 minutes per teacher and are assigned according to your last name (see below). If
more time is needed please plan to come on Friday.
A-F 4:20-5:15 pm
G-L 5:15-6:10 pm
M-R 6:10-7:05 pm
S-Z 7:05-8:00 pm
Friday, October 1:
If you cannot attend the conferences on Thursday you are invited to visit your student’s teachers in their
classrooms today from 8:00-11:30 am and 12:00-3:00 pm.
If you run out of time and do not get to meet with some of your student’s teachers, please use the sign-up sheet
available from each teacher to make other arrangements for a conference.

ATTENDANCE NEWS: Please call 291-7248 by 9:00 am in the event a student will be absent or late
because of an appointment or illness. Written notes are really appreciated. Parents must call or send a
note for any absence or late arrival to be excused. Students receive a detention after 3 unexcused tardies
in one quarter, then one detention for each additional unexcused tardy in that quarter.

No school on Thursday and Friday, October 28 and 29.

MISSION SERVICE HOURS: Each student at DCHS is privileged to meet hours of mission
service per year (Freshmen need 20 hours; Sophomores-Seniors need 30 hours). To report
your hours use the blue form found in the wall rack outside the high school office. The
Parent/Student Handbook gives more details and a list of approved ministries.

LOST and FOUND: containers are located by the athletic bulletin board on the 3rd floor of C building and
as you enter the Cafeteria. Containers are emptied every couple of weeks.

PHYS ED CREDITS: Dayton Christian does not offer Physical Education during the school
year but the state requires 1/2 credit of PE. Your student may complete this requirement
through participation in an interscholastic sport or through aerobic exercise. The forms
explaining the criteria for earning this Education Option Physical Education Credit are
available in the wall rack on campus or on the website under “Academics”.

FROM THE CLINIC: We really need the little (8oz) water bottles and Sprites. We are getting low and the flu
season is around the corner.

ISRAEL TRIP: Are you interested in going to Israel in January? The initial deposit is due October 1st.

MOMS-IN-TOUCH: Please join the High School Moms-In-Touch as they pray each week for our
students, faculty and school. Our moms meet each Thursday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 in room C102.

Cost: $15.00
Sign-up in the cafeteria during lunch – October 11-14
Only 50 slots available and money MUST be turned in by Thursday, Oct.14.
If there are any slots available on Friday, sophomores will be given
the opportunity to sign-up.
Sophomores can sign up to take the test at their local high school.
Juniors and Seniors only
If your student has not passed all five (5) sections (reading, writing, math,
social studies, and science), he/she will be taking the test the week of
October 25th

College Visits Seniors have (1) college visit this semester. Remember to fill out the college
visit form BEFORE visiting the college.

DCHS TESTING CODE # 361-799 Seniors should be signing up to take the ACT/SAT again.
