Hi,
Can anyone assist with clarifying the benefit of using SCCM 2012 for server patching over WSUS. As far as
i understand SCCM can manage updates for third party applications if configured correctly. However if
this is the only benefit I cannot see a clear reason for using it.
Any information on the benefits of SCCM for server patching would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Michael.

Hi,
There are many reasons to use SCCM for patching instead of WSUS, I wrote a blog post a while ago
listing 12 reasons why you should use it.

Jorgen: I just happened upon your reply on this thread when looking for a SCCM vs WSUS argument,
and your blog post helped push me to start the process of moving from WSUS to SCCM updates.
Do you possibly have a post or know of a good walk-through for setting this up in configuration
manager (preferably 1602) ?
Thanks for your constant help in the forums, it really does help us out!

Jon,
There are a few good resources that we used to get SCCM up and running. The two best ones that I
found besides MS Tech Net articles were:
https://www.systemcenterdudes.com/step-by-step-sccm-1511-installation/
http://jimmoldenhauer.blogspot.com/2016/05/sccm-1511-installation.html
They get you up to the point where you can install the 1602 update. Both sites include commentary
about updating it once you have installed 1511.
