Chilli Mushroom

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

ingredients

 1 packet of white button mushrooms -200 to 250 gms


 1 large capsicum/green bell pepper, cut into fine strips
 3 tbsp onion or spring onion/scallion whites chopped
 1 tbsp finely chopped celery (optional)
 1 tbsp ginger
 1 tbsp garlic
 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped or slit
 1 tbsp corn flour dissolved in 2 tbsp water
 1/2 tbsp soya sauce - add more if you prefer
 1/2 tbsp vinegar - i used balsamic vinegar
 1 or 1.5 cups water or vegetable stock
 1 tbsp red chili paste or 2 tsp red chili powder
 1/2 tsp freshly crushed black pepper or black pepper powder or white pepper powder
 2 tbsp oil
 salt to taste
 sugar to taste
 some chopped spring onion/scallion greens for garnishing

method:

1. rinse the mushroom in water and chop them.


2. heat oil in a wok or kadai
3. add the onions or spring onion whites.
4. stir fry them on medium heat till they become transparent.
5. now add the ginger, garlic and green chilies and stir fry for a minute.
6. add the capsicum & celery and stir fry for a couple of minutes.
7. add the mushrooms and stir fry on medium heat till the mushrooms leave water and start
to get browned. they will shrink in size too.
8. this will take about 7-8 minutes. the whole mixture should become dry and the mushroom
browned.
9. add soya sauce, pepper powder, salt, sugar, vinegar and stir.
10. stop here if you want a dry chilly mushroom.
11. for a gravied and saucy chilly mushroom follow the below steps.
12. add water or vegetable stock to the mushrooms.
13. let this mixture heat up & simmer.
14. add slowly cornflour paste to this mixture.
15. keep on stirring so that the sauce does not form lumps.
16. when the sauce is thick enough remove from heat.
17. check the seasonings... add soya sauce, sugar, salt or black pepper powder more as
required.
18. serve hot with some veg fried rice or even plain rice.
19. goes will with breads or buns too.

my notes

green chilies, garlic, ginger, red chili paste, black pepper powder, salt and sugar can be adjusted
to suit one's taste.

i have stir fried the veggies on medium heat so that they don't burn. if using high heat to stir fry
the veggies than be careful so that they burn.

add more cornflour paste if you want a thicker sauce or gravy.

My version of Mushroom Chili Fry

Ingredients

 1 packet of button mushroom


 2 tbsp butter Or olive oil
 8 to 9 garlic cloves chopped finely
 1 inch ginger julienne
 7 to 8 green chilies slit length wise
 1 tbsp sugar
 1 capsicum chopped into dice
 1 red bell pepper
 8 to 9 onion whites from spring onion
 1 cup greens of spring onion
 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce
 salt as per taste
Instructions

1. Wash mushrooms wipe them with a dry cloth. Chop them into big chunks.
2. Take a wide bottomed sauce pan. Add butter place on low heat. Saute garlic, ginger and
green chilies. Add sugar.
3. Add whites of onion. Saute for 2 mins.
4. Now add dry chopped mushrooms. Keep stirring and allow to cook until water
evaporates.
5. Add capsicum and bell pepper. Saute until they are tender.
6. Now put soy sauce + garlic - chili sauce.
7. Add greens of spring onion.
8. Lastly add salt for seasoning. Combine all nicely.
9. Now switch off the gas. Serve Mushroom Chili Fry hot with veg hakka noodles and soup.

CHILLI MUSHROOM RECIPE


Chilli Mushroom is a very spicy recipe. Learn how to make/prepare Chilli Mushroom by
following this easy recipe.

Ingredients:
• 400 gm Button Mushrooms
• 200 gm Capsicum
• 2 medium Onions
• 2 cm Ginger
• 6 flakes Garlic
• 4 tbsp Oil
• 1 tsp Chili Powder
• 2 tsp Dark Soya Sauce
• 2 tsp Vinegar
• 1 tbsp Corn Flour
• 1 cup Water
• Salt to taste
How to make Chilli Mushroom:
• Cut mushrooms into halves.
• Cut capsicums into halves, remove the seeds and cut into thin strips.
• Grind onion, ginger and garlic to a paste.
• Heat 4 tbsp of oil. Fry the ground paste.
• Add chili powder and ¼ cup water. Simmer till almost dry.
• Add capsicums, mushrooms and salt. Cover and cook on low flame till vegetables turn
tender crisp.
• Add Soya sauce and vinegar. Mix corn flour with water and add.
• Bring to a boil, simmer for 1 minute.
• Serve Chili Mushroom hot with noodles or fried rice.
