DEMONSTRATION PLAN IN KINDERGARTEN

II. A. Subject Matter: Pattern


B.Materials: boxes, blocks of different colors, set of colored beads,
string, pictures, worksheets on patterns
C. Reference: National Kindergarten Curriculum Guide pp. 133-134

III. Procedure
A. Motivation
*Showing of 4 magic boxes.
*Inside the magic boxes are two kinds of fruit.
* Let the pupils get and identify what’s inside the magic boxes.

B. Presentation
*Say: Today we will be learning about pattern.
*A pattern is a design that repeats.

C. Lesson Proper
1. *Call a few students in front of the class.
*Demonstrate how to make a pattern such as boy girl, boy girl,
standing bending, standing bending, hands up hands in front,
hands up hands in front.
*Encourage the pupils to say what comes next in the pattern.

2. *Show an object
* Demonstrate how to make a pattern through various concrete
objects and pictures and let the pupils say what comes next in the
pattern.
3. Group Activity
a. Teacher Supervised
1. Place the pupils in small groups.
2. Give each group a set of blocks in two colors.
3. Instruct them to make an AB pattern through the use of the
blocks.
4. Reward them with praise if they complete the activity
correctly.
b. Independent Activity
1. Provide children with a set of beads.
2. Show them how to string beads first.
3.Choose beads of two colors and string them creating a
pattern. Example: (blue blue red, blue blue red.)
4.Ask the children to choose 2 colors and make their own
arrangement.
5.Check each bracelet as students complete them.
6.Note if they placed the colors in a correct AB pattern.
