At the end of the lesson, 100% of the students with 85% proficiency should

2. Demonstrate the proper steps in massaging hand and arm
3. Value the importance of hand and arm massage

i. Motivation

Before we start our lesson, I prepared here to reveal what is our topic. The game
is called “four pic one word“. You will guess the pictures shown and guess what
the picture all about is.
Who can guess, what is our topic is all about?
Answer: Arm & Hand Massage

 Decompress - relieve or reduce the pressure
 Palm - the inner surface of the hand between the wrist and fingers.
 Medium - Massage mediums include mineral oils, moisturizing balms, and
hand cream.
 Interlock - engage with each other by overlapping or by the fitting together
of projections and recesses.
 Carpal - relating to the bones forming the human carpus (wrist), or to their
equivalent in an animal's forelimb.

Hand & Arm Massage

Massage involves working and acting on the body with pressure.


Techniques are commonly applied using hands, fingers, elbows, knees,
forearm, feet, or a device. The purpose of massage is generally
promoted as treatment for stress or pain.

hand massage A form of reflexology in which parts of the hands are


rubbed with the fingers, knuckles and blunt or sharp objects, with the
intent of stimulating nerve endings for various organs believed to be
present in the hands.

Benefits of Hand and Arm Massage:

 can help relieve carpal tunnel pain


 relaxes the muscles and tension in the arms and hands
 relaxes the individual
 Reduces stress.
 Invigorates tired, aching hands and arms

.Importance of Hand and Arm Massage

 A massage relieves stress, pain and discomfort in the arms,


hands, and wrists. A massage also resolves issues related to
arthritis and poor blood circulation.
 The massage peps up blood circulation and rapidly eases sprains
and strains.
 An arms and hand massage gives you a relaxing and soothing
experience, especially, if you are looking for instant solutions.
 More importantly, with this massage technique you can decrease
pressure and tension knots in the neck, scalp and chest, due to
circulatory / nervous disorders.

Safety Precaution

 Do not wear tight-fitting clothing or jewelry.


 Avoid Horse Playing
 Wear apron and hairnet
The steps of hand and arm Massage

1. Choose a massage medium, you can choose oil or lotion.


2. Decompress the joints in the hand
3. Gently massage the wrist and hands with both thumbs
4. Turn the hand over
5. Rub along the palm starting at the base of each finger
6. Interlock fingers
7. Begin decompression of the wrist
8. Lay the arm back down once you’ve decompressed the wrist
9. Begin massaging the forearm
10. Massage the upper arm

DIRECTION: Arrange the steps of hand and arm massage (A-J)
