Uses of Additives, Preservatives, Food Enhancers
1. Introduction to the topic
Additives are substances which are added to the foods to preserve the flavor,
enhances the taste and the color. That are many categories of additives two of them are
preservatives and food enhancers. Preservatives are a substance to prevent the food
from decomposition by microbial growth or chemical reaction. Preservatives have two
varieties there are natural preservative and synthetic preservative. The example of
natural preservatives is salt, lemon, sugar, etc. And the example of synthetic
preservatives is Natrium benzoate, citric acid, vinegar, etc. Next, we talk about food
enhancers, a chemical substance added to a processed food to improve the quality or
taste. For example MSG, saccharin, etc.
2. Advantages
Benefits of preservatives made food have long last time, prevent the food
being decomposed, and preserve the quality of food, preserve texture and appearance.
Also the benefit of food enhancers is making our food more delicious. Besides that,
the additives have many benefits, those are increasing shelf life, increase nutrients
with fortification, and the cost is cheaper than the real flavor.
3. Disadvantages
So many negative effects using food additive, there are can cause allergies,
cancer risk, etc. Disadvantages of preservatives reduced heart health, hyperactivity in
children, the food imaging look doesn’t naturally, and make intestines cancer, it’s hard
to breathe, diarrhea, etc. Bad effect using food enhancers are made everyone puke if
over consuming, get a headache, etc.

4. Summary and opinion


So, additives are an additional substance in our food, there are many types of
it, two of the examples are preservatives and food enhancer. Food enhancers have
many advantages, because the function gives the food more delicious, the
disadvantages more than the advantages. And the preservatives too. But for natural
preservatives more safety to use
In our opinion, it’s better doesn’t use synthetic additives like MSG, sodium
benzoate, because many negative effects if we use it. We think it’s better if use natural
food as a preservative or food enhancer because it’s healthy and the cost is a little bit
expensive though

There are many bad effects, the most dangerous effect can make us die, and

Yes, It is, because the food can change the color become brighter, make consumer
want to eat that

quite a lot?
If you consume more than the limit, you can puke, and get a headache.
