CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter will discuss the research process in terms of research design, research

parameters and variables, data gathering, and statistical analysis. A detailed explanation of the

quantitative process that will be conducted is also covered in this section.

Research Design

This study will use a descriptive research design. It is a scientific method which involves

observing and describing the behavior of a subject without influencing it in any way

(Shuttleworth, 2008). The target group’s response, likewise, is not to be influenced in any way.

Quantitative methods emphasize objective measurements and the statistical,

mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through polls, questionnaires, and surveys,

or by manipulating pre-existing statistical data using computational techniques. Quantitative

research focuses on gathering numerical data and generalizing it across groups of people or to

explain a particular phenomenon (American Public University System Library, 2018). Hence,

data concerning employment and rating of the relevance of the technical electives to employment

will be using this research method.

A survey instrument is a tool for consistently implementing a scientific protocol for

obtaining data from respondents. In this study, the researchers will make use of a questionnaire-

type rather than interview-type instrumentation for convenience in gathering data. The

questionnaire will give us demographic data that is statistically socio-economic in nature such as
