 I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of this discussion, 80% of the students should be able to:
a) Define mixtures.
b) Distinguish the difference between homogeneous mixtures and heterogeneous mixtures
through brain-based learning.
c) Appreciate the importance of knowing all the substances that are present in a mixture
which can lead an awareness in our daily living.

A. Learning Activities

“Very good. Now our lesson for today is not all
about the someone like you or Adele but the concept
of separation, or rather substances that can be
separated which is also known as mixture.”

“So, anyone who can define what is mixtures?” (Students will raise their hands)

“Very good, when we said mixtures it is two or more “Mixtures is something made by combining two or
substances that are being combine but not combined more ingredients.”

types. These are homogeneous mixtures and
heterogeneous mixtures.”

“So, in order for us to easily understand the two

types of mixture, I have a simple activity called

you to determine whether it is homogeneous mixture
or heterogeneous mixture.”

“if you believe that the given picture is

homogeneous mixture you will go to the right side,
but if you believe that it is heterogeneous mixture
you go to the left side. The last student/students who
remain standing will be considered as the winner.

“In other hand homogenous are substances that are

evenly distributed and have same compositions.”

“In other way heterogeneous composes of variety of

substances according to its sizes, shapes, colors and
etc.”

“Now let’s have a short quiz to determine whether you
really understand the difference between homogeneous
and heterogeneous mixture.”
