Ubuntu 16.04 won't shutdown/restart

I am using dual boot Windows 10 / Ubuntu. GRUB and everything else works fine. Whenever I try asked 1 year, 8 months ago
to shutdown or restart my laptop from Ubuntu, the screen just stays turned off, keyboard
viewed 410 times
0 backlightning on. To shutdown my laptop, I need to hold down the power button.

You could always shutdown/restart from the terminal.
0 Can't shutdown laptop
0 commands are: sudo halt and sudo reboot
