Dear Teacher Search Committee,

As the Director of Student Teaching and a professor for Regent University’s College of Arts and
Sciences, I had the privilege of teaching and supervising Sonya Ramsey from August 2014 to
Spring 2017 in a curriculum course and during her student teaching practicum and internship. It
was a joy to see her complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with an
emphasis in Pre-K-6th grade education, at Regent University.

One of Sonya’s greatest strengths was her ability to plan high-quality, student-centered lessons
that resulted in high levels of student engagement. I observed multiple lessons in which students
were excited to learn through exploration, movement, technology, and other hands-on activities
aligned with state and local standards and designed to meet daily learning targets.

Sonya implemented a variety of assessment techniques, both summative and formative, to

identify student academic strengths and weaknesses. This classroom-level data was used in an
ongoing manner to differentiate instruction to meet the various learning needs in her classroom.

Sonya was a bright, pre-service professional. She enjoyed collaborating with her grade-level
team. She stepped in where needed to innovate and create materials/resources for the benefit of
the classroom and grade-level team. She listened to constructive feedback with open ears and
adjusted her instruction based on that feedback. She was a conscientious student who earned
high marks, due in no small part to her keen organizational and writing skills.

I recommend Sonya Ramsey for a teaching position in your school division. She will be a fine
teacher. Please feel free to contact me if you require further information.

Sincerely,

Cheryl A. Gould, Ed.D.
