1.1.5 Cable item 1830095 Length 0,6 meter

For extension from D-sub 9 PIN female to PC USB

D-sub 9 PIN male USB

This cable is usually used to extend cable 1830008 to convert a D-sub 9 PIN female to USB.
With this cable Topcon instruments can also be connected to the PC USB port.

1.2 Cable length and cable installation

1.2.1 Cable length

All cables used between Topcon peripheral instruments are guaranteed to a maximum length of 5
meters (16,40 feet), except for the CV-power supply cable with 8 meter. If it is necessary to use
cables longer then 5 meters (16,40 feet) you have to use line drivers to overcome the problem of
to much resistance in the cable due to the long length.
Use always original Topcon cables.

1.2.2 Cable installation

When installing cables always be sure that you give the cable enough length for movement,
and not install the cables to tight. Never install cables to close to heat sources and close to
transformers, like light transformers on the ceiling. Keep all cables away from electromagnetic fields.
Follow the instructions of the manuals of Topcon instruments.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

When using the 5 meter replacement cable

(item 1830115) you have to mount the Ferrite
Coils from the original KB-50 cable on to this
replacement cable. This to prevent malfunction
of the KB-50.

1.3 Interchangeability of CV-3000 and CV-5000 components

Below the overview of interchangeability between CV-5000 and CV-3000 components.

From the graph you can see that CV-3000 components are NOT interchangeable with CV-5000
components. The reason for that is the difference in Voltage. 5V for the CV-3000 and 12V for the
CV-5000 !

8.2 KR-8100P  Colormap 32  CV-5000  i-base

IMPORTANT NOTE: In this setup Objective refraction data will be send directly from
ColorMap 32 software to CV-5000.

8.2.1 Purpose of setup

This connection will see to it that Objective data is send from KR-8100P to CM32 and then
directly to CV-5000. Kerato data is send from KR-8100 to CM32 and then to i-base.

This setup (chapter 8.2) will prevent that Objective data first goes to i-base and then to CV-5000.
If you require Objective data first to i-base and then to CV-5000 an extra handling will be needed
by click in i-base on “set phoropter head”. However this (alternative) setup will be described in
chapter 8.3

Notice the double set of cables between PC and CV-5000(L) needed for this setup.

received from CV-5000 in i-Base. These data can also be blocked. However these
data will never be blocked when send from i-base to CV-5000. (see 8.2.8.2 #4)

CM32 software will not pass the CL/EZ data to CV-5000. The CL-200/2800 or EZ-200
can be directly connected to the Compact power supply (1) or directly to i-base (2).

8.3 KR-8100P  Colormap 32  i-base  CV-5000

8.3.1 Purpose of setup

This connection will see to it that Objective and Kerato data is send from KR-8100P to CM32 and
then to i-base. From i-base this Objective data can be send back and forward to CV-5000.

This setup (chapter 8.3) will prevent that Objective data directly goes to CV-5000. If you require
that the Objective data directly goes from CM32 to CV-5000 then see this (alternative) setup
described in chapter 8.2

Schematic setup:

*) Setting made in the KR8000P plug-in (in i-base) will see to it that Objective and
Kerato data is send from CM32 to i-base. (Objective not blocked) (see 8.3.9.2 #3)
**) Setting made in the TCSerial plug-in (in i-base) will see to it that beside Subjective
data, also Objective, Final and Lensmeter data (when available) will be received
from CV-5000 in i-Base. These data can also be blocked. However these
data will never be blocked when send from i-base to CV-5000. (see 8.3.8.2 #4)
Be aware that Objective data can be received double in i-base in this setup.

NOTE: CL-200/2800 or EZ-200 connected to KR-8100P in this setup will unfortunately not work.
CM32 software will not pass the CL/EZ data to CV-5000. The CL-200/2800 or EZ-200

8.4 KR-8100P  Colormap 32  CV-5000PC  i-base

8.4.1 Purpose of setup

This connection will see to it that Objective and Kerato data is send from KR-8100P to CM32 and
then directly to CV-5000PC. From CV-5000PC this Objective data can be send back and forward
to i-base.
This prevent an extra handling by start-up i-base and have to click the button “set phoropter head”
By sending data from KR8100P immediately Objective data is available in CV-5000PC.

Schematic setup:

(see chapter 4.1) CPS

*) Setting made in the KR8000P plug-in (in i-base) will see to it that Objective data from
CM32 to i-base is blocked, Only Kerato data is send to i-base (see 8.4.7.2 #3)

**) Setting made in the installation setup TOPCON CV-5000PC will see to it that
Objective data & Kerato data will be received directly in CV-5000PC from CM32.
(see 8.4.4.1 #3)

Be aware that Kerato data can be received double in i-base in this setup.

NOTE: CL-200/2800 or EZ-200 connected to KR-8100P in this setup will unfortunately not work.
CM32 software will not pass the CL/EZ data to CV-5000. The CL-200/2800 or EZ-200
can be directly connected to the Compact power supply (1) or directly to i-base (2).
