Describe how you would incorporate an Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your
classroom
Students will be directed to write an opinion piece about why people should have pets. Once work is
completed students will publish the work on KidPub. Students will be given the opportunity to view their
published work and collaborate with others.

What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom?
Students will use a desktop computer to type their work and publish it online.

Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be
addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level).
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their
school:
Students will collaborate with their classmates in order to edit their work before publication, Once
published, students will collaborate with peers beyond the classroom to discuss their published work.

b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (creating original data and or producing original
products as a result of engaging in a project):
Students will use their own thoughts and ideas when creating their writing. As students collaborate
with peers outside their classroom, students will express their own thoughts regarding published
work.

c. Higher-order thinking:
Students will be encouraged to write an original piece of writing.

d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product:
Students will publish their work to kidpub.org. Once student’s work is published, students will be given
the chance to discuss their work with other students who may find their work interesting.
