Prove It!

Upgrade to Assess:
Frequently Asked Questions
(EXTERNAL –Stand Alone)

Why is Prove It! retiring?

The Prove It! platform has been an assessment icon for over 20 years. We are proud of the
number of clients we have been able to serve with this software. As technology trends shift, in
order to be nimble, it is sometimes appropriate to stop building on top of an old platform, and
instead start with a new updated infrastructure designed to accommodate the latest demands
in technology. This allows IBM to put more time and energy behind a single solution that will
continue to meet the needs of our clients. The infrastructure that Assess on Cloud was built on
provides an opportunity to enhance your assessment experience in a variety of areas, including
mobile capabilities, availability of a greater variety of languages, and accessibility.

Who is being asked to participate in the Prove It! to Assess Upgrade?

All Prove It! customers will be required to discontinue using the Prove It! platform to administer
their assessments by the end of the program.

Do I have to upgrade?
Yes. Prove It! is currently in the end of life process.

What benefits will Assess offer me?

Mobile/Tablet Capability: The majority of the assessments can now be administered and taken
on mobile devices. The Assess user interface employs responsive design principles, meaning that
the screen will dynamically adjust to the type of display the user has. Although the interface
now supports a wide variety of different devices, certain test types should only be taken on
certain devices to ensure a fair and meaningful assessment of skill and a good user experience.
For example, we will require a keyboard for data entry tests, and a certain minimum screen size
for Microsoft Office simulation tests. Please contact your IBM Kenexa representative if you have
questions around whether or not a test is mobile enhanced.

Languages: The Assess platform is currently available in over 40 languages.

It is important to note that while the Assess user interface is available in multiple languages, and
offers expansive globalization abilities, this does not mean all of the assessments are available in
every language. If you have a question or request regarding the availability of a test in a
particular language, please contact your IBM representative for confirmation.
Accessibility: The Assess platform has undergone considerable testing and development to
ensure an accessible and user friendly experience for candidates with a range of different kinds
of disabilities, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers.

It is important to note that not ALL of the assessment titles are accessible for certain types of
disabilities (e.g. if the assessment is specifically measuring hearing ability, it will not be
accessible for those with hearing impairments.)

In recent news, IBM and Microsoft made a joint announcement about our solution that enables
blind and low vision users to demonstrate their Microsoft Office skills when applying for a job
using IBM Kenexa Assess on Cloud. This is the first time a solution like this has been made
available in an assessment environment.

What are some of the benefits of Assess that haven’t been mentioned?
▪ For clients wishing to integrate Assess with another system, such as an ATS, Assess
provides a comprehensive set of SOAP/RESTful web services which are incredibly easy
to use and manage.
▪ In addition to your traditional Prove It! skills tests, Assess is able to offer a vast
catalogue of Behavioral, Personality and Cognitive assessments.
▪ Assess has the ability to deliver Computer Adaptive Tests (CAT). These are designed to
deliver items tailored to the test taker’s performance, automatically generating the ideal
assessment for each test taker. This reduces seat time and improves the test taker’s
experience by including items appropriate to their demonstrated skill level. It also
decreases the chance of cheating by presenting a different set of assessment items each
time.
▪ Where applicable, Assess has the ability to combine many different test types into a
single test. This reduces the need to send multiple emails/links to a candidate and
allows the candidate to complete their assessments in a single setting.
▪ Assess is an Agile product, with new features and enhancements being released on a
regular monthly cycle. These new features are automatically made available to every
client at no additional cost.

How long will IBM support Prove It!?

IBM will support Prove It! until its retirement date in 2018.

Can customers continue to utilize Prove It! after the retirement date
(unsupported)?
No, once Prove It! has reached the end of life date, it will be taken offline completely. Clients are
encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to migrate to Assess as soon as they are
contacted by the IBM Kenexa Assessment Migration Team. This will maximize the opportunity to
benefit from the improved functionality and test taker experience as soon as possible.

How long will I have to complete my upgrade?

This timeline is determined on a client-by-client basis after a thorough review of the content
currently utilized in each Prove It! site. The average length of time will vary between 4-6 weeks
for stand-alone clients.

Will there be downtime required during the upgrade?

No. There is no downtime needed to complete this transition.

What LOE is required from the customer?

Clients are responsible for Assess site branding and system user setup. Additional information
on configuration is added further below in the document.

Will customers be charged to upgrade?

No. There are no implementation fees associated to the upgrade of your existing Prove It!
configuration. Adding a new integration or additional content would need to occur post go-live
and would have a standard pricing model applied to that effort. IBM is not responsible for costs
that are presented to a client by a 3rd party integration partner.
Will the cost of an annual subscription remain the same?
Yes. The IBM entitlements for IBM Kenexa Prove It! on Cloud and IBM Kenexa Assess on Cloud
are exactly the same. Therefore, the cost associated to each platform remains the same.

Will my data be migrated from Prove It! to Assess?

No. We will not be migrating data from one platform to another. We encourage clients to
discuss with your legal teams what information is needed prior to the deactivation of your site.
An enablement document can be found on the Prove It! Migration Support Portal outlining
various reports available within Prove It! that will allow data to be extracted & maintained by
each client. Document can be found here:

Will all of the titles I used on Prove It! be available on Assess?

We have a large scale upgrade project currently underway to transfer our core library of tests
from Prove It! to Assess. As part of this migration project, IBM is currently reviewing all of the
core content that has been utilized in 2015 & 2016 and making those tests (or equivalent
content) available in the Assess platform. IBM has also identified certain titles that will not be
migrated to Assess based on the age or relevance of the material. For example, the Microsoft
Word 2003 skills assessment will not be made available on Assess. Currently, over 90% of our
content that is planned to be migrated is now available on Assess. During this process, nearly all
of our behavioral assessments that are being recreated on Assess are also being streamlined and
“refreshed” to ensure they are in line with the best test practices and technology capabilities.
We recommend contacting your IBM representative if you have questions surrounding a
particular title.

Is there a difference between the assessment content on Prove It! vs.

Assess?
Our Skills content remained the same so the actual questions and answers will be exactly the
same on both platforms. There will be an improved look and feel, a more sophisticated design
for usability and accessibility, and for some assessments we have been able to implement some
improvements to the candidate experience. All behavioral assessments have been “refreshed”
to ensure they are in line with the best test practices and technology capabilities.
Do you have a “Customize a Test” feature in Assess?
No. This feature is not available in Assess and content previously configured using this feature
will not be migrated. The project team will ensure the off the shelf version of the test is available
on the new platform. Our off-the-shelf assessments are ready-to-use tools designed to inform
your hiring decisions. In the interest of delivering comprehensive and accurate data about your
candidates' skills and behaviors, IBM does not allow off-the-shelf assessments available in
Assess to be modified by our clients. Removing items from an assessment may reduce its ability
to provide this comprehensive and accurate data, or introduce unanticipated bias. If you require
modifications to the core content that you had previously utilized the “Customize a Test”
feature to apply (such as removing questions or adding a timer), please contact your IBM
representative for assistance. They can provide pricing and initiate a project with the IBM
Kenexa content team.

Is the Make Your Own Test Module available in Assess?

No. This feature is not available in Assess; however, content generated with this particular
feature in Prove It! will be made available to the client for use in Assess at the time of go-live.

Do all clients log into the same URL?

No. Previously, many clients were required to log in to the generic proveit.com site when
accessing Prove It! directly. With Assess, clients will now have their own unique URL. This is
similar to the Prove It! private label/branded site (e.g. proveit2.com/companyname) feature. All
clients will now have this feature, free of charge.

Can I brand my own site?

Yes! Clients will be able to designate access to branding based on user type. Those identified
roles can create branding themes and add your colors and logo to the testing experience. Our
branding configuration options were designed to ensure that the branded testing experience
does not distract test-takers, and that it remains accessible. Branding Enablement If you would
like a specific assessment to have a more highly branded look and feel, please contact our sales
team to ask for pricing on an enhanced user interface or simulation style assessment for your
candidates.
Will all customizations from Prove It! be applied to my Assess site?
Assess has been designed in a way to improve upon branding, reporting and other areas that
once required engineering effort to apply changes. As an agile product, Assess allows an
opportunity to develop and roll out new and advanced functionality to all clients at the same
time. This allows for more robust features which applies to all client environments. Because of
this new approach, customizations are no longer applied to individual client environments.

Can you create batches in Assess?

Yes! This is located under Session Management - > Batches – in the bottom left corner

What kind of applicant data can you capture in Assess?

Administrators create an ID for each test taker and can optionally enter their first name, last
name, and email address. If there is a need to collect additional information about test takers,
please contact your IBM representative for the options available and the costs associated to
each option.

Can we collect demographic information in Assess?

Yes, but collecting demographic information is handled from the assessment level instead of the
account level. If you had demographic information available to you within Prove It! and would
like to continue collecting that information, please contact your representative to review the
options available and the costs associated to each option.

Does Assess allow assessments to be randomized?

Yes, but randomizing assessments is handled from the assessment level instead of the account
level. If you would like to utilize randomization, please contact your representative for
assistance. They can provide pricing and initiate a project with the IBM Kenexa content team.
What are the differences between reporting?
The Assess Candidate Report offers a vastly improved look and feel. For most behavioral
assessments, Assess provides additional levels of specificity on behavior statements and
manager reports. Also, descriptive portions of the report are dynamic and driven by the
candidate results which means development items and follow up questions are not static
responses.

Assess does not currently support global average or percentile rankings for skills content. If you
need statistical information about these assessments or have interest in branding your reports
to match your hiring process and corporate brands, please contact your IBM representative for
assistance.

Does Assess have the equivalent of a Global Administrator Account?

Not at this time. If there was something you used to do through the Global Administrator
account and don’t see how to accomplish what you’re looking to achieve, please contact your
IBM representative for assistance.

Can I make additional changes to my existing set up during this

upgrade?
No. In order to ensure all Prove It! clients have an opportunity to migrate to Assess free of
charge, IBM will be migrating a client’s existing core content and paid custom content to the
new environment. Once live, we encourage you to reach out to an IBM representative to begin
discussions around enhancements & improvements to take advantage of the exciting new
functionality available on Assess.

What are the basic system requirements for Assess?

IBM Kenexa Assess on Cloud, IBM Kenexa Assess Content Library on Cloud, and IBM Kenexa
Assess Test Taker Experience (TTE) support a specific set of Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox (FF),
Chrome, Safari, and mobile browsers.

Existing clients can review the latest supported browser information on the Support Portal:

What’s next and who can you contact with additional questions?
Clients are being contacted via email after a thorough review of their existing set up has been
completed.

Each client will be receiving three types of communication, outlined below.

1. Initial Communication: This communication will provide clients their Prove It!
deactivation date as well as next steps. Clients are given 6 weeks for enablement,
configuring users, branding and extracting data. IBM provides this documentation in the
Prove It! to Assess Migration Support Portal to ensure clients are well equipped to
handle these tasks.
2. Assess URL: Clients will be receiving a system generated email that provides clients their
Assess URL.
3. Final Communication: This communication is a reminder to clients that their Prove It!
account will be deactivated on the date provided and provides Assess support
information.
