II. BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

In every institution, it is necessary to always have someone to look up to. A role model is a
person who inspires and encourages us to strive for greatness, live to our fullest potential and see the
best in ourselves. A role model is someone we admire and someone we aspire to be like. We learn
through them, through their commitment to academic excellence and through their ability to make us
realize our own personal growth in every aspects of student life.

Having an ANSCI Model Student will motivate the rest of the students on how to behave not
only in school, but in the whole community where they belong. Having someone to look up to will
encourage everybody to have good morals and don’t indulge in self-destructive behavior which might
affect their academic status here in Mindanao State University – GenSan.

III. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Basically, the goal of this committee is to provide a model student in every year level
for every semester.
Specifically, this aims to answer the following:
1. Recognize students who portray strong leadership and academic characteristics.
2. Motivate all students taking up Bachelor of Science, Major in Animal Science to
participate in school-related events, excel in school, reach out to fellow students,
and exude an overall positive attitude.
3. Provide a stronger bond between the students and the Animal Science Department
faculty and staffs.

IV. METHODOLOGY AND STRATEGIES

The committee is the main implementer of the project. The committee is tasked to
facilitate all major actions that must be undertaken to successfully attain the aforementioned
objectives.

The following are the specific strategies that must be undertaken:

 Election of the ANSCI Model Student

1. The candidates for ANSCI Model Students will be nominated by the students under the
Animal Science Department.
2. Each student will have to vote for his/her ANSCI Model Student according to his/her
year level. The nominee who will be selected must not belong to any positions from
Animal Science Students Society.
3. Election of the ANSCI Model Student will take place during the whole duration of
enrolment per semester. The process of election is via secret balloting to ensure that
everything will be done licitly. Upon payment of the department fee, the student will
be given a ballot wherein he/she will write down the name of his/her bet. The ballot
will be signed by the voter and will put it into the ballot box.
4. For the final round of election, the faculty and staff of College of Agriculture – Animal
Science Department will critic the top 5 nominees who got the highest votes from the
students according to the criteria given by the committee; thus, the candidate who got
the highest average score will be declared as the ANSCI Model Student.

 Tallying of Votes

1. Tallying of votes will be done by the committee headed by the proponent of this
proposal.
2. The votes will be counted manually and legitimately. A recount will be conducted as
deemed necessary for the appropriate result of ANSCI Model Student.
3. Ballots will be considered void when:
- Signature of the voter is nowhere to be found on the ballot.
- The voter has elected two (2) or more students.
- The voter has voted twice or more.
4. When all things are settled, the committee and the chairperson will be signing the paper
with the result and it will be then submitted to the Department President for approval.
The result will be presented to the ASSS Adviser for approval and finalization.

Academic Performance 30%
Attitude 20%
Sociability 20%
TOTAL 100%

LEADERSHIP – pertains to an individual who possesses social intelligence, zest for change,
and capacity to uphold and manage things with self-awareness and sensibility to others.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE - shows academic interest, excel in subjects, and involves
oneself to academic activities.
ATTITUDE - pertains to the capability to deal with others in a positive perspective. Flexibility
of a person in encountering public and adheres optimism.
SOCIABILITY - engagement to social environment. The sense of humanitarianism and
invokes good influence to others to build a better social atmosphere to the Animal Science
Students Society.

 Awarding of the ANSCI Model Students

1. The awarding of ANSCI Model Students will take place during the General
Assembly of each semester.
2. Awarding ceremony will be headed by the Animal Science Department
Chairperson.

V. BUDGETARY REQUIREMENT

The general budgetary requirement will come from the budget allocated for the
committee by the ASS. Sponsorships and aids are secondary budget sources.

A budget of Php 65.00 will be allocated for the implementation of the project.

Scented Papers Php 30.00
Printing of Certificates Php 20.00
Ballot and Evaluation Papers Php 15.00

Total Budgetary Requirement: Php 65.00
