This report contains results from the July 2018 Milk Production Survey collected nationally during the first two
weeks of July. Data provided by Oklahoma and Texas producers are the foundation of the estimates made for
the Southern Plains region. We would like to thank all producers who responded to the survey. Results from
the next quarterly survey will be made available on October 19, 2018.

Milk production in Oklahoma during the April-June quarter totaled 188 million pounds, down 1 percent from the
January-March quarter and down 2 percent from last year's quarter. The average number of milk cows in
Oklahoma during the quarter totaled 40,000 head, up 1,000 head from the same quarter in 2017.

Milk Cows Milk Production

Milk production in Texas during the April-June quarter totaled 3,317 million pounds, up 5 percent from the
January-March quarter, and up 7 percent from last year's quarter. The average number of milk cows in Texas
during the quarter totaled 524,000 head, up 11,000 head from the same quarter in 2017.

Milk production in the United States during the April-June quarter totaled 55.8 billion pounds, up 0.8 percent
from the same quarter last year. The average number of milk cows in the United States during the quarter was
9.40 million head, down 3,000 head from the January-March quarter, but up 4,000 head from the same period
last year.
