Instructions:
1. The next sheet is an example problem from Grosh's book A Primer of Reliability Theory.
2. The following sheet is a template. Column A is an index number, column B is the ordered data, Column C is the ln of the data, and
column D is the plotting position [ln ln (n+1/(n+1-i))]
4. Enter the data in column B. The template is designed for 15 data points. Adjust the formulas in columns C and D if there are
more or less data points.
5. After the data are entered select TOOLS, DATA ANALYSIS, and REGRESSION. Enter the input range for the Y-Axis and X-Axis.
Enter G3 for the output range and click OK.
6. The Beta value is the Weibull slope. It is equal to the X Variable at H20. The Theta value is the mean life and is equal to
EXP(-Intercept(H19)/X variable(H20)).
7. A line can be drawn based on the equation, y = a + bx, which is y = (intercept(H19)) + (slope(H20))*x
