Components Identification and study the specifications

Problem Statement:

Open the given PC case. Identify various components inside it. Study how they are

interconnected, study how they are fixed, and arranged inside the case. Learn to fix the cables

and attach, detach components in the PC.

Procedure:

 Switch off the PC and remove the power connection from computer

 Remove the cables and add on cards, keep them neatly on your table

 Use proper screw head to remove the screws from the case

 Don not apply more force to either fix or remove components

 Do not drop components or do not damage components pins

 Arrange the components on your table and show for instructor’s evaluation.

Problem Statement:

A computer is connected various cables and connections, this experiments help you to

familiarize the different types of cables, connectors and their specifications. Open the given PC

identifies all cables, ports, connectors, draw them and write their purpose and specifications.

Procedure:

 Switch off the PC and remove the power connection from computer

 Use proper screw head to remove the screws from the case

 Components categories : power, display, input/output interface, printer interface, processor

sockets, RAM slots, HDD connectors, ROM, DVD ROM, adapter card slots, description

of cables on the case.

Study on mother board and their components with specifications

Problem Statement:

Study the different types of case and the motherboard form factors; study the difference

between the form factors(refer page no 17 in your theory book), difference between the desktop

motherboard and laptop motherboard. Do a detailed study on all the components and devices

on the given motherboard.

Use your text/book and Intel website to explore the description about the specification of

components on the motherboard

Procedure:

 Remove the processor heat sink and processor with an extra care.

 Draw the positions of the components in your book and name the parts and their purpose,

 Show your compilation and get approval from your instructor.
