Spring-lock connections are used by some
vehicle manufacturers for the installation of
air conditioning systems in the factory.
Using this principle two different insertion
elements establish the line connection.
They can only be opened with special
spring-lock tools in the case of repairs.

Leak detection techniques:
Leaks in the refrigerant circuit are one of
the most frequent causes of functional
problems in air conditioning systems.
If they go unnoticed, the resulting drop in
refrigerant level will lead to reduced
performance and possibly total failure.
Particularly with the refrigerant R 134a it is
a well-known fact that this agent diffuses
through rubber pipes and connections.
Since the air conditioning expert cannot
immediately be sure whether a leak or
normal loss of refrigerant over time is the
cause, a thorough search for a possible
leak is an absolute must.
Tested are: ■ all connections and pipes
■ compressors ■ condensers and evapo-
rators
■ filter-dryers
■ pressure switches
■ service connections
Hella recommends 4 methods
of leak detection:
1. Contrasting agent and UV lamp
2. Electronic leak detection
3. Leak detection using nitrogen
4. Leak detection through foam formation.

ground for bacteria, fungus and other
