Brake improvement kit
Proposal: This instructions describe how to install a set of mechanical parts to improve the
reliability of the brakes and to provide for their quieter operation during transportation of the
unit.

This improvement was introduced at the factory, starting with serial no. 1245 for Mobilett
XP, serial no. 10152 for Mobilett Eco and serial no. 1308 for Mobilett Hybrid. The Mobilett
XP Digital systems have already been upgraded.

Brake lever stop

1. Check the brakes for the following:
- The brake pad should not rub during transport
- The system should not pull to one side during braking.
- For general adjustments of the brakes, see also “Replacement of Parts,
SPR8-230.841.30.xx.xx”.
2. Release the brakes.
3. Loosen the M8 screw(1/Fig. 2 / p. 5) from the brake mechanism on the right side of the
MOBILETT XP

4. Mount the 37mm x 62mm plate(2/Fig. 2 / p. 5) from the update kit according to
(Fig. 2 / p. 5).
5. Attach the plate with the M8 screw(1/Fig. 2 / p. 5) so that the brake lever(3/Fig. 2 / p. 5)
is straight and touching.

6. Position the heat shrink tubing(1/Fig. 3 / p. 6) on the M8(2/Fig. 3 / p. 6) screw as shown

in (Fig. 3 / p. 6).

7. Shrink the heat shrink tubing using a hot-air gun or similar device.
8. Apply the brake and check to make sure that no noises occur during transportation.
Otherwise, repeat step 5

Brake springs
1. For Mobilett Hybrid:
Loosen the right-hand M5 screw(1/Fig. 4 / p. 7) on the upper battery holder as shown
in(Fig. 4 / p. 7).
For Mobilett XP/Eco
The M5 screws are supplied with this kit
2. Mount the 15mm x 47mm metal angle bracket (2/Fig. 4 / p. 7) from the update kit using
the M5 x 12mm screw(1/Fig. 4 / p. 7).

3. Install the brake spring in the new position as shown in(Fig. 4 / p. 7) .

4. Repeat this procedure with the left side of the MOBILETT XP.

NOTE This chapter is an extract from the document “Replacement

and adjust the brake system. For more information see also

• Disconnect the system from the power outlet.

• Jack the system up on both sides using wooden blocks approximately 5cm x 7cm in
size. It must be possible to turn the wheels freely.

Remove the rear wheels.
• Check the brake linings. If the brake linings are thinner than 1 mm, they must be
replaced (Fig. 5 / p. 8).
• Loosen the screw to remove the old lining (Fig. 5 / p. 8).
• Pay attention to the alignment of the brake surface when installing the new lining.
• Reinstall the wheels.
• Apply the brake. You should not be able to move the system by applying normal man-
ual force. If more force is applied (i.e. more than 350 N) slight movement is permissible.

Brake force adjustment 2.1

• Adjust the screw (1/Fig. 6 / p. 9) so that the brake arm moves back just far enough to
release the brake (there should be no grinding noise when the system moves). Secure
this position with the locknut.
• Tighten the adjusting screw while the brake is released (2/Fig. 7 / p. 9) until the neces-
sary braking force is achieved.

• When the adjustment is complete, the connection piece to the cable is positioned as
shown in (3/Fig. 7 / p. 9). Fix this position using the lock nut.
