that include:

2.) Effort Score =3 points

3) Demonstrates Motor Skills and

Movement Patterns

(Skill/Knowledge tests) – =3 points

________________________

Total (max) =9 points per

9 week grading period= your
student will receive an S (for
Satisfactory) on Report Card
1.) The Shoes score is given to each student using the following rubric:
3 Points- The student consistently was prepared with sneakers/socks/laces (see school uniform
code) for P. E. class.

2 Points- They may have been somewhat inconsistent in preparation for class (missed wearing
sneakers 1 to 3 times for each 9 weeks).

1 Point- The student was infrequently prepared for class (no tennis shoes over 3 times). The
parents were given notification (Discipline slips) during the 9 week grading period.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.) The Effort score is given to each student using the following rubric:
3 Points- He/she exhibited appropriate effort during this grading period.

2 Points- The student displayed appropriate effort most of the time but may have had to be
redirected occasionally to make correct effort choices during this 9 week grading period.

1 Point- The student may have refused to participate in the selected activities. The parents were
given notification (Discipline slips) during the 9 week grading period.

3.) Demonstrates Motor Skills and Movement Patterns (Personal & Social
Behavior/Values P.E. for Enjoyment, Self-expression, Social Interaction etc… )

Demonstrates Motor Skills and Movement Patterns is given based on results from
designated, personal and general space assessment, locomotor movement, P.E. manipulative
skills and/or social behavior testing performed during our P. E. activity units. These skill tests
are based on the Georgia Performance-Based Curriculum Standards. The students are given a
score of 3, 2 or 1 on each skill test.

Skill Assessment Scale: The students can receive a 3, 2, or 1 based on the

following criteria:
3 - The student consistently and independently met the standards and can perform
the movement or skill with mastery. The student averaged 2.5 or higher on the 3 point
skill/movement tests during this 9 week grading period.
2 - The student is progressing towards meeting the standards and/or can partially
perform the movement or skill. The student averaged between 1.5 & 2.4 on the 3 point
skill/movement tests during this 9 week grading period

1 - The student has shown limited progress or does not meet the standards. The
student averaged below 1.5 points on the skill/movement tests during this 9 week grading
period.

On the Report Card you will see E,S or N:

Within each area, I can assign an E for Exemplary (9< or more points) S for
Satisfactory (8 to 6 points), an N for Needs Improvement (5 points and below). I
assign these grades based on the following criteria:

E -(>+1 extra point above the max.point at teachers discretion)- The student
consistently exhibited exceptional behavior as well as showed above and beyond
manners. He/She displayed adequate leadership in class by helping demonstrate
skills, answering questions and leading others to make good behavioral choices
during this grading period without teacher’s help.
Earning extra points if below 6 points:
There are 2 ways to receive 1 extra point. 1 extra point is given when the student
performs one type of stretch per 9 week grading period OR brings in a monthly
activity calendar with a 4 weeks period worth of activities. The type of stretches
and the calendar is on my website under “Extra Points/Homework” tab.
Conduct Expectations in the Physical Education class:
S -(8 to 6 points)- The student displayed appropriate behavior most of the time,
adequately listening to and following the P. E. teacher’s directions, however there
may have been a few times (1-3 times) the teacher needed to redirect the student in
his/her behavior, during this grading period. This is the level of expected
behavior in class.

N –(5 points and below) The student inconsistently followed the teacher’s
directions and had to be sent over 3 times to the time out area. The parents were
given notification (Discipline slips) during the 9-week grading period.
